I’ve had 3 pairs of the Xodus ultra 1 and still love them! Tried the 2’s and had weird foot pain. I gave up on Xodus ultras past 1. Kind of afraid to even try the 3’s. Love your videos Lloyd.

Also had weird foot pain with the 2, specifically under side of inner most metatarsal. Also that outsole becomes a borderline hazard on smooth wet hard terrain, not sticky what so ever

@@klipk7296 It's funny I don't see as many people criticizing Saucony as much as Nike (models before Vibram), but they are equally bad.

I found PWRTRAC like ice skates on wet rock (Endorphin Edge). Am I drunk? Or does it vary by model?
@Thefifaplayeryant2 ай бұрын
No, it varies on different stones. Here in southern Germany the PWTRAC is quite behind Vibram or Continental on wet, Xodus Ultra 1, Peregrine 10...Not really feeling confident therefore.
@RowOfMushyTiT2 ай бұрын
@@Thefifaplayeryant I'm in Switzerland (so basically southern Germany geologically). It's the limestone and biofilms (wet wood) that is problematic. Wet granite is fine, but most shoes can handle that. PWRTRACK is as bad as Nike (from 2 years back). People need to start calling them out until they similarly adopt Vibram.

There is a 2nd colour for women- a sort of fluoro yellow. Great review, been tempted by Xodus Ultra for an all rounder shoe (if they fit my thick ol' trotters) but seeing as you can pick up the 1/2 so much cheaper seems the way to go!
@martinweston81472 ай бұрын
XU'1 were nice to run in and shed water quickly, only cost £60 but only lasted 400miles before both shoes ripped near my small toes, I then got the 2's for around £90 hoping the upper had been improved and the inner heels on both have worn through after just 100miles, I'm on 260miles now and these are about shot. My Asics and Hoka's cost more but they last a lot longer. I found the comfort and grip to be great but the uppers are just not durable enough.

How does the toe box width compare to the Xodus Ultra 1?
@Up_and_running2 ай бұрын
I've had Xodus 1 (great), 2 (good), and now 3. I agree it is a bit stiffer but it's working fine for me. I just ran CCC in them and had no issues whatsoever. Felt good on alla surfaces and my feet were in good shape at the finish line. In general I find Saucony shoes well built and durable. Love the Peregrines. Thanks for the video, though I find stories and adventures more interesting than gear reviews.

Like I said in the review, it’s not a bad shoe, it’s just not as good as the previous versions. Well done for your CCC finish! There’s lots of other content on the channel, lots of races, travel vlogs and short films, I like to keep the content on the channel as varied as possible, I think it’s good to have big mix of running content 👍 Thanks for watching 🙂

Hi Lloyd! Nice review. I'm considering these as well as the Trabuco 12 and Trailfly. Just wondering about sizing...how much space do you like between the end of your big toe and the end of the shoe?! It looks as though you might prefer a thumbnails width as opposed to a thumbs width of space? It would be super helpful to know the length of your feet(!?😅) which would give a better idea of sizing for this shoe and any shoe for that matter! Ps. My feet are 27cm long so I tend to be 9.5uk all the way up to 11uk depending on the shoe!
@jessicadavis2169Ай бұрын
I found the toe box to be a tad narrow. It’s not noticeable until you’ve run for a bit. The Saucony Peregrine 13s have more room Length wise it feels fine. I’ve been turned off the Trabuco 12s a bit. They’re quite heavy, which is noticeable on tired legs and they feel awful when wet and muddy. Like dragging lead on my feet. I’m tempted to try these because they’re a bit in between the Trabuco and Peregrine 13. I adore the Peregrine 13s but I don’t think my feet will like them for a 50k.

Still struggle to feel completely confident on damp/wet rocks with these, they seem to slip a little and I don't feel comfortable pushing in case they slip even more. As a random comparison, with my Topo Mtn 3s I almost forget that the rocks are wet and I feel comfortable just getting on with running 🤷♂ Aside from that, great shoes I think!

1s fitted great and were super fun to run in on moderate trails but I couldn’t take them on anything technical as the midfoot was too sloppy and every time I did them up tight to compensate the ankle collar dug in to the underside of my ankle bone, got pretty sore. The 2s fixed the stability issues but they changed the last to have a tapered toe box and it pinched my little toes to the point it drove me mad and had to sell them. Lost patience after that if im honest and swapped to SG5s which have well documented flaws but were ok, currently on MS4s which are the best of the bunch with incredible grip but are a little long and thin and start to rub after 20 miles or so. Maybe XU 4 will be the one 😆 until then the search continues!!

More versions you have of a shoe, less differences you are going to find. I only found a big difference between the Peregrine 12 and the Xodus Ultra 2 but I dont think you will see too many differences in the same model. I'm goig to buy my second pair of the Xodus and so on when I have to change it again. I don't get how people find too many differences between difference versions of the same model. In road running I've been buyig the same Nike Pegasus and there is not difference between Pegasus 35, 38 and 39
