RUNASAPI: Secrets, Lore & Easter Eggs you have missed! - Overwatch 2

Season 11 introduced a brand new PUSH map to Overwatch 2: Runasapi, set in the beautiful mountains of Peru. This is the home of the Inti Warriors, where Illari grew up and was imbued with the power of the sun.
Sadly, that process did not go as intended, and Illari wound her hometown forever. You can see the scars all over the map. But there is also a lot of proof of healing.
Besides the lore, this map is a nice tribute to the beautiful country of Peru.

I love the story how Peru people treat Illari. It would be so easy to tell a story how she needs to apologise to her people for that accident, but because she is the only person as you said "mad" at herself, and Peru treating her as some kind of goddess it improves her story so much.

You know, I saw a vid about this new map about the easter eggs previously. And it was about how some things or symbols from the Oasis map also appear in this new map!👀 So I find your comment very interesting. I think Moira indeed is involved in this lore..

@@pinacolada8921To be fair, those “symbols” are just pretty generic DNA double-helix and molecular structure icons. I think it’s likely that they just reused assets.

And Moira and illari do have notable interactions, I feel like the interactions + specific use of chemistry and genetics Oasis ministries symbols (Moira is the genetic minister at oasis) was done purposefully to imply.... something? Idk what tho. Maybe Oasis is interested in inti tech and solar threading?

My guess is that Moira used to be in this genetic research team on the Oasis and Runasapi before she had to left due to many of her unsafe experiments and joined Blackwatch

This is my favorite OW map in a very long time. On top of the push changes they made this season (thank you qp hacked), Runasapi has what you want in a map: great gameplay and incredible aesthetics. I'd also like to give bonus points for the sound effects (i.e. the sliding doors), which are similar to Illari's abilities.

The fact that we see the same genetics and science logos in Runasapi and in Oasis makes me remember the interactions between Illari and Moira. They are all.. negative or even aggressive towards each other. I wonder what happened!!

Thanks for putting so much effort into making this video. The Taxi details and reading the plaques, it's just nice. The word "Ave." Comes from "Avenida" or something similar to it and it's the same as "avenue"

It is definitely a llama, they are/were widely used in Peru to carry water, goods and building materials. Also there's basically an image of Kuzko from The Emperor's New Groove movie along the main route, which ties the llama in as well.

Really gorgeous map, i love how the enviorment really sells the green energy aspect, one side water with waterfalls, one side air with open sky and wind power kites. I was dissapointed that most of the text was boxed out... samoa had the same thing, but atleast samoa had museum audio playing to make up the slack. I was really sad no audio was playing in the Runasapi museum! :( i want more lore for illari, her story seems so sad but im sure she will find the strength to return to her people one day ♡

Love learning about different cultures and this map is just so amazing! This makes me appreciate and admire Illari's character so much. I keep my graphics low for gameplay so I really enjoy seeing the extra details from your vids. (Also I know I'd be terribly distracted during battle lol.) Great content as always. ☺

I think the 3 wheels heat up the water and spin to pull it up to the big wheel. I think this special magic on the 3 wheels probably heats it up and also spins to help it rise. I also feel like her peoples technology might lead a path towards Anubis tech same as venture.

How does noone talk about the abundant use of the one singular painting? I'm not talking about the absolutely stunning painting of Illari but the one that shows the area, it's a big square painting and it's in almost every single building, sometimes even more than once! I love the map and the atmosphere and architecture but the fact that they haven't made just a single alternate version or something makes me sad

Big, monolithic buildings combined with narrow streets and steep elevations make the map "bigger" in the Y axis while also being shorter in the X axis.

There are many portraits hinting the same location of a posible new map. You can see it at the left of the screen at 6:35 (I dont think it is Runasapi: I saw it in game and it looks way different to Runasapi. There is also water and the houses are European style)
