Silk Thompson, born Leonard Dickinum in 1952 in Chicago, Illinois, is an American blues artist known for his pioneering role in integrating dark, narrative-driven lyrics during the 1970s. He is also recognized as the younger brother of the renowned blues artist, Jessiby Dickinum - who’s hit song “B*tches Love Me” dominated airwaves in the early 1970s. It is said that much of his dark music stemmed from constantly being overshadowed by his older brother Jessiby. Many folks close to Silk described him as never having good kush and never having alcohol. Also, in fact, his B*tches did not love him. This experience sparked a fire within Silk as he went on to create massive hit records chronicling his struggles and dark experiences. His hit record “Runaway” was released in 1974 off of his album “Echoes of the Alleyway” and demonstrates the emotional depth of his artistry that continues to influence generations to this day.

His debut album, Runaway, features the song title of the same name.
