I think the Topher storyline was changed to explore Molly's character and to show a parallel between Molly&Topher and Karolina&Jonah. With people that are finally like them and have their powers and even possibly family, but these people can't really be trusted and aren't as good as they appear. I think that's what they were trying to do. Not defending it, just trying to understand what happened.

Nita C agreed. With tophers adapted storyline we were told (SPOILERS) that he was the cause of Molly’s parents explosion and it also evolved the arch of how Molly got her powers. And because of the transformation in his eyes, molly believe they were related which also grew her character because we see how much she yearns for a family (blood related, someone just like her). And at such a young age she lost it all. And even though topher was the cause of her parents death she still couldn’t avenge them because she’s too kind and she still saw him as a family. A runaway maybe, just like her.

I think that people have a tendency to see things like magic, vampires, or anything fantasy and immediately write it off as either childish or immature. So to not alienate a demographic that doesn't really understand that type of writing or settings they would just use science to solve all of that. Also I am completely caught up with The Runways 2017, and my fucking goodness it is so good!

Runaways S2 is good, give it a chance. :) spoiler tho, the staff has some sort of magical reaction to Nico now but I feel like it will be revealed on S3. After the Minoru fight scene, Nico went dark and it freaked Robert and Tina out and Tina was like "oh I've seen this before." Good review on the comics btw. I love the comics so much :)

Then honestly, they should've skipped the Topher storyline for now, in both the series and the comic, it was more of a "side" story, so it could've very easily been shuffled in somewhere else.

It made Molly look so incredibly immature, immediately clinging to someone else just because they had similar powers and he was also Latino. Before and after the arc, I loved Molly. But during it? The only other character that annoyed me more this season was Alex.

@@x.baughans3526 That's not true. I think you're assuming that's the case because they own Michael Morbius. But that doesn't mean they flatout own vampires within the Marvel films. Marvel Studios currently owns the rights to Blade and other vampire characters. So they can include them as they so choose.

Minor spoiler for season 2 . . . . The staff of one is unquestionably magic. Is shown that its magic. Is shown that its from the comics, 1 spell. Also may have added something. I like that the adaptations mostly work for what they change. We give a shit about the parents. Well, they arent 1 dimensional shits.

I do have my own theories as to if the Staff is magic or not, I think they are changing it from tech to magic over time, but they don't just wanna say it outright just now, I know I wasn't the only one that criticised the show for stripping away magic and replacing it with technology in S1, so hopefully this is them dipping their toes into the magic pool!

And I'm hoping that they truly reveal what Xavin is in Season 3. I can't help but feel like they're holding off on it because Captain Marvel hasn't released yet.

Well, they spent an entire year apart, with Julie on the East coast, and Karolina on the west, neither one wanted to move, and so, Karolina did the thing a lot of people do, where they subconsciously distance themselves romantically, till eventually the couple has no choice but to break up.

Spoiler!! . . . . . Yeah, I agree that Topher should be a vampire but I don't totally hate the storyline. I mean, towards the end of Topher's storyline it is implied that he is a immortal since he was revealed to look the same for the past 15 or so years. Also, I think the writer wanted the show to have a bit more modern feel which is why they decided to go for the fact that Topher is addicted to having powers like Molly. Additionally, the staff of one does seem to be magically but the writers are trying to introduce it in small bits and pieces so that it isn't a 180 degree change from Technology to Magic.

Comic spoilers I'm so glad Alex is back and i hope they talk more about the mollys mom clone thing. Gert is useless and annoying her and Victors relationship is just a bad gross idea. Poor chase hes going to be heartbroken when he finds out. Deanoru has become more of a boring married couple now hopefully they can spice things up or it #TeamAlexandNico again. Also I feel like Rainbow is writing this comic like a YA novel which make it uneventful at times. Ask for the TV show I really wish they would stick to the source material but I understand toe for not being a vampire since this is connected to the MCU and vampires have not been introduced and there's talk about a blade movie happening so it wouldn't make sense for a totally different vampire to exist in the MCU when they're bringing the vampire race and in the movie the same thing going on with xavin and not being a skrull because of the Captain Marvel movie

Because Gert is the right age, she wasn't frozen in time, she died, and was brought into the future from before she died, thus changing history. For everyone else 2 years had passed, for Gert, 2 minutes had passed, meaning, she's the age she SHOULD be.

This story arc shows why Alex is needed as the leader. He would have answers to every one of Julie's questions. He's had a better season 2, but they shit on all his ideas and show him no respect. I hate that they spend so much time with the parents who are irredeemable. They are supposed to be evil. I really would like to see Alex deciphering the Abstract, why take that one useful ability away from him?

But must point out that while your knowledge is vast and videos very well done season three is almost here bro. You sort of have to finish your season two review. I’m sure everyone is waiting on it. Comics rule for u and your channel no problem but you let so much time go by that the review done NOW puts everyone in right frame of mind when three drops on Hulu. Chase is this kind of dumb, sarcastic dudebro who always talks about how he's against "the man" and is super cheesy and goofy. I think Greg and his chase are cool but the only thing the two characters have in common really is their name and powers and when runaways is a character driven story about found families then it's what's really important about adapting it is to maintain personalities. But I still like the show. This might be what op meant
