What is latency mean and what does the latency do to the drones? I mean like what's the purpose of latency? I don't know and I don't understand what is latency and what it does and why no people liked latency on drones? Can you please explain that in clearly so that way I can understand and know what it is for. Thank you Drainman! 🤙🏼

Latency is the time it takes for data to be transferred between its original source and its destination, so when you're flying its your delay between what you're doing on the radio, and when you see it, the dji OG cameras are around 23ms so 23 milliseconds of delay between you and the goggle feed.

@@Ultraclips07 I still don't get it... What is the purpose for latency on drones?
@Deserthacker3 жыл бұрын
@@indroneswetrust1 There is no purpose. It's just an unfortunate fact that it takes some time for the controller to transmit the signal to the drone. Then the drone has to process that signal and move as intended. The camera then has to record that movement, process it into an image and send it back to the goggles. The goggles do some more processing on the received image and finally send it to the display. And then the display has to update. All these steps take time which is what is called latency or delay. You can think of it in terms of lag, as in online games. There is a delay between what you want to do and what the screen shows. Pilots want that time to be as low as possible so they can more immediately see what their drone does in reaction to their commands. Vice versa, when suddenly an obstacle appears they want the time delay (latency) between what the drone sees and what they see, to be as low as possible to give them more time to react. Now this product comes and almost doubles the latency (e.g. delay) which isn't good for the above reasons.

Bro u always kill it wit ur videos.!! Even if it’s something I’m not really interested in you still manage to hold my attention… Which isn’t easy 👍🏼 I’d watch another “flight video” with this setup on a quad

Yeah, I'd love to see some latency testing! I just dropped around 400 on the insta360go2 and already cracked a lense cover and am always terrified I'll break it out loose it. If the latency isn't too bad this would be awesome! Love your vids, bro. Your recommendations are generally spot on. Your how-tos easy to follow. Thanks.

There is not much you can do about the latency. Tested all the modes today, a little difference (5ms) if I use 1080p60 vs the 2.7k mode. But if you can't use the 2.7k mode without hefty latency, this cam lost its point... I will see tho if flying it cruiser style without even thinking of a power loop, maybe it's fine? We could also install it as a 2nd cam which is still pretty lightweight at 20gr, and use a 120fps neb pro for flying (Gal says the dvr works even without the vista connected, just 5v power...)

I'm using it stand alone on a racing quad. I even removed the output video cable as its not needed. Works pretty decently.

Why is there latency? They should have made the recording of the information priority secondary and the transmission of the data primary.

Same resolution and frame rate that I use on my Inspire 2 for commercial flights and when I make my videos. But the Inspire 2 , as Im sure you already know is quite large but I want to offer something that the competition in my area is not offering. I flew FPV to keep my skills sharp and I had the DJI FPV quad entire setup. I could never get that thing to take off in full acro. I never called DJI but I ended up selling the quad and kept the goggles for this exact reason. I have several small FPV micros that are analog but plan to build full HD FPV quad on 6S. Its not exactly the same camera as the X4S gimbal on my I2 but now I just need to find a 3", or 4" frame that accept a stack five inches tall lol. My only question, is this considered a micro camera regarding size? I learned to never assume things with FPV a long long time ago lol. Thanks

I have this runcam split on Geprc Cinequeen converted to Vista/Runcam Split HD, in the 1080p 60fpd, you feel NO lantency at all, but in the 1440p and 2.7k, oh yeah, I consider that mode strictly if your gonna to slow cinematic high shots, no gaping and fast flying in that mode, really feels weird, but since I use 1080p 60fps, ok for me, way better video over the goggles for sure, on par with the 1080p 60fps on the DJI Air Units.
@Rcschim3 жыл бұрын
Polar or nebula would probbably not work because they don't come with 2.7k from the sensor.... also this 2.7k, while we love it on the recording, it's the reason for the damn latency...
@Quad_Father3 жыл бұрын
Firstly - awesome video as always…. You’re rocking it! Secondly - wtf was runcam thinking by adding 30ms of latency!! That’s a non-starter. Just strap on a $240 28g peanut and then no latency hit and you’re not stuck to just one quad for filming HD.

Yeah, an actual flight test report would be good. I'm kinda leery of the RunCam Split stuff, had a couple of the earlier (HD/analog) versions that were less than stellar. The HD footage was good, but the analog flight side of the video was pretty well unusable.
