Have a plan. Believe in the plan. One of my favorite running books is Train Hard, Win Easy, the Kenyan Way. If you want to get out the door, Once a Runner or Running with the Buffaloes usee to do the trick.

10k ok, 10 miles yeah, half marathon respectable, but not near the local champs. But a full marathon? I can never get there. The distance itself I mean.
