The important thing to remember is that this isn't RF6. It's a spinoff. I'm personally glad they're chosing to experiement with combat being the focus. If the development team can really nail the feel of combat in this game, the quality would probably flow into upcoming mainline RF games as well. A spinoff is the perfect place to do this kind of thing.

It's both, 6 and Project Dragon are in the same world, just showing different sides of the same coin. So I guess PD will focus in combat, while 6 will be our typical RF, which is quite nice!

No they need to focus on the character writing and the music, that's what made the past games so good. The combat was already good since TOD and the music for 4 and 5 sucked, so they just reused past music.

The change in setting from mostly European to Japan isn't a bad thing, but I do worry about the removal of the farming element. I'm not sure if the combat is exactly what people go to Rune Factory for since that's never really been the main draw. The charm of the series was the fantastical world-building and plotlines, while ALSO having beloved farming elements. Where RF5 failed was that it's story was weaker and the characters had less depth than previous RF titles (with some notable exceptions). Combat isn't where improvement was needed, writing quality and graphical bugs were. Never have I cried in a farming sim game like I had in RF4. The writing was wonderfully touching.

RF6 and Project Dragon are two different games =D Project Dragon seems to be more open world and story driven like Frontier and Tides of Destiny was, while RF6 will be the game we are more familiar with.

They focused on the combat and setting because that looks improved(imo WAY improved, we will see) anyways, the series needs to attract new audiences it has sold so poorly, but its keep going by a devoted fanbase, i want to see every gameplay element expanded along with the visuals, from combat to farming to story and social Rune Factory 5 was ok, but played it so safe and looks like a 3DS game at times(and was full of bugs),i hope they can increase the budget with this one and deliver something more polished and ambitious

Its more like BOTW. After all Genshin copied alot of BOTW while BOTW borrowed elements from early 2000's 2d adventure games and evolved it.

been playing rune factory since the second title, I have to say they havent done a good job transforming their charming pixel art style into 3D... it looks too bright and choppy, it looks empty too.. Rune Factory 3&4 remains the best for me in terms of visuals

Love the clothing style. Loved murakumos style in rf5 would be great to chose fashions similar in the spin off. I would love for this style to also be optional in rf6 💓 a mix of both contemporary and various historical Japanese fashions would be amazing. I would however also love for them to keep some of the original style too of dreams 💓 and go forward with the player sexual relationships they brought in rf5. I'm excited to see what they make. I know how this is just a spin off game but I know rune factory 6 has also been teased

To be honest I'm not excited about dance battle combos. I just don't care about it. I'm a little concerned this mechanic might replace the farm/community building that is the staple of Rune Factory. I come to Rune Factory to get away from complicated battle systems and enjoy a fantasy farming adventure that balances life building with a fantasy setting/adventure. I like the simplicity of Rune Factory battling. I'd like the setting/graphics to grow to something a little more like Breath of the Wild, but I am not interested in losing the farming/monster collecting or the bachelor/bachelorette aspect. I want to build a farm, a family, and a community.

Iirc Marvelous confirmed that relationship building/romance will be in Project Dragon back when it was first announced, so there will be at least some lifesim elements. It's unclear if there will be farming though.

Rune Factory Frontier was peak RF. Gorgeous art and traveling the world felt natural, even if it wasn't in 3D. It made it so that there wasn't wasted space. This one and the more recent RF games have all had so much wasted space in the in-game world.

They confirmed in last year’s showcase that farming is still in the game (you can also see it in last year’s trailer). I think when they were talking about dancing, they may have meant lore wise

This definitely looks and feels like it´s going to be a Genshin/Wuthering Waves clone/competitor, at least by the gameplay, limited attacks and "finishers" and the way the movement and combat is presented. I mean, i am not against it necessarily, as long as the game is honestly fun. Of course i would much prefer if it were just a normal game or something akin to BOTW/TOTK but at this point, more Rune Factory is good.

And Rune Factory was/is one of Nintendo IPs, so them going BREATH OF THE WILD line, doesn't make it a "clone" of gacha games. Like I said, it says more about YOU, than it does about them. Frontier and ToD already had a more anime-esk style vs RF normal chibi-like style, the combat being more fluid ain't new, they helped with Hyrule Warrior.
