RUNE GUIDE - What stats to look for on what sets? (Summoners War)

Energy: HP%, Def%, SPD, Accuracy, Resistance Guard: Def%, SPD, HP%. Bruiser tanks with def scaling can go Crit Rate and Crit Dmg, but supportive monsters should take Accuracy or Resistance, depending on if they buff more or debuff more. Swift: If it does not have SPD, autosell. I mean it. Refer to Guard for more details, but also add Atk% on the offensive swift units. atk scaling swift units can include Seara, so try to see what the monster you HAVE can do, before keeping these runes. Blade: Crit Rate, Crit Dmg. The rest depends on the damage scaling of your units. Oh, and SPD is also a must-have. Don't use on Leo btw, as other 2-sets are more useful. Rage: Same idea as Blade, but some units whom rely on conditions and can fully crit, like Naomi requiring ONE debuff to crit, or Water Penguin requiring just defense break to autocrit... Those would need no extra crit rate. Otherwise, try to get 70% minimum crit rate before you lock these runes onto a monster. Focus: Lacking accuracy, but if you put accuracy on 6 you lose a lotta defensive stats? Take these sets. SPD, Acc, HP, Def. Normally, Resistance is best as the innate rather than one that could be upgraded, but there are a few exceptions. Take this rune for any debuff focused supports like Loren or even strippers like Chiwu. Fatal: Any earlygame atk type monster uses this. Atk, Crit Rate, Crit DMG, SPD, Accuracy. All those are enough, try to get DEF or HP on slot 3 fatal runes if the other stats are present (atk cannot exist in slot 3) Despair: Got AoEs, multi hits, or revenge effects? This rune is for that monster. Probably except Feng Yan, who can do way better with Violent to have a permanent revenge buff. Vampire: This one's for your solo farmers. Astar with this set can solo Charuka Hell, giving the highest exp per run to all your monsters and skyrocketing your exp farming significantly. Get ATK, Crits, Def, and HP. SPD and ACC are dependent to the monster's kit. Leo can really benefit from this set if he doesnt get speed out of it. Violent: "When in doubt, go violent". Probably the most flexible rune set in the whole game, because anyone with this can do good if they really work at it. ANY stat works, just as long as it got speed, and stats dependent on their role in the team. Nemesis: Turn cycling. If the unit has a good heal (i.e. Praha), a good game-changing ability (i.e. Verad), or a scary amount of utility when he starts getting turns (i.e. Verd or even Veromos!), they can use this rune. Try to get Defense to soften the hits the unit gets, because if they die trying to cycle, it's kinda pointless. Also, SPD and HP are good here too. The rest depends on what the monster does. Will: If your support is below 250 speed; If your dps is a Lightning Emperor; If you have a slow damage team (excluding fat lushen from this), take Will into PvP. This can help force the enemy to committing one slot to a stripper, which then gives you more space to deal with their stuff. Try to ban their scariest cc unit afterwards, but in any other case, this is a really strong rune set. DO NOT USE MORE THAN ONE ON EACH UNIT. Flexible to adapt to the needs of many monsters. Shield: Good for supports, Necropolis, and even Lightning Emperor teams. Revenge: Does your unit have a good 1st skill that can be used to cc, farm, or even just do a lot of poke? Take this rune and grab the same stats as you would get on Nemesis sets. They can actually be interchangeable with several monsters. Destroy: This is good for bruisers who want to chip down the enemy's max HP, especially to the really good scaling ones like Ramagos or Skogul. Try to put this on bruisers rather than dps units, as many dps units rely on ending the enemy quickly rather than hitting them for a second full commitment combo. Fight/Determination/Enhance/Accuracy/Tolerance: Rune sets are used when you need the team to get just a tad bit more stats to do what they need to do efficiently. Fight is good for BJR5 comps, for example. Determination is great for bruisers, as well as the Enhance set. Accuracy is good for a lot of debuffing supports. Tolerance is just Endure, split into all allies for less individual set bonus. (12% res to all, instead of 20% res to user). These are all just to allow your units to get what they need to do, done, and in a bit easier way. Also complimentary for some units that lack just a little bit of the stat they need. Notice that each one start sounding adaptive the lower you get to the list? It's because it starts getting flexible with each use, and eventually becomes so flexible that it heavily depends on the units that you equip them on, and even their team compositions. Bruisers want HP, DEF, RES, Crits, and some SPD. Other stats are optional. Nukers and DPS want Atk, Crits, and SPD. Accuracy is optional and DEF and HP are for survivability. Debuffer supports want SPD and Accuracy, and then good HP and Defense. The rest are optional and ATK and Crits are unnecessary. Buffers want SPD. A ton of it. Then they want HP, Def, Acc, Res, in that order. Nothing else matters to them. Bombers want SPD, Atk, and Acc. Nothing else is necessary, but some HP, DEF, and RES will be fine as innates. There are exceptions to these "archetypes", but they're a good way to classify units. Check their skills, their base stats, and then decide what runes are best for them.

Please remember that this guide is for OPTIMIZATION. Using offsets is totally viable. If a rune seems like it could be good, even if it's a bad set, give it a power up! If it rolls well, you might be able to use it. My Naomi (who I use for G12, Siege, GW, Ice Rift) is runed TRIPLE ENDURE! Because I keep getting really good Endure runes with 25 Crit Damage. She has +11k hp, +1500 atk, +55 spd, and 241 CD. The Endure runes also put her at 100 Resistance! She can one shot Skoguls and is an incredible unit, but this isn't supposed to be a Naomi review. The point is, yes, if the same set was Rage she would have 281 CD. But would I really use that Rage set on Naomi? No, I'd put it on a fat Lushen. Do what you have to. There's no shame in using wonky rune sets if the stats are good.

this is how I runed my tatu with guard/endure/energy the runes just rolled all the good stats she needed, and she ended up with excellent extra hp and 100% res with passable defense. she can hang in giants already and I haven't six starred her yet. she ended up with 172 speed which is perfect for the dungeon and shes also the slowest member which makes her go last, it all worked perfectly. all because I followed the same basic advice you are advocating here.

Another piece of info that might help some people who want high spd rolls or triple rolls in general, purple runes have a 1/27 chance of triple rolling where as legend runes have a 1/64 chance of triple rolling. So if you aren't super endgame, purple runes are a great way to get some high spd runes

It is a good refresher and reminder of where your standards should be at, for where you're at in the game progressively... it's good practice to do some aspects redundantly, like the way a sports player or martial artistis who practice a movement over and over.

oh theres also: -There are some bruiser-monsters that value crit - pretty much the only stat def/hp% runes dont want is atk%, and even that can work on stuff like fran/anavel who scale on practically anything -never keep flat main-stats on slots 2/4/6, except speed on 2, because there is no %speed. -the most important rune-set for 99% of players is violent, there are next to no monsters that cant use it - and violent likes offensive stats just as much as defensive ones, so youll just get more usable runes. FARM DRAGONS.

@jewbagel just want to mention that Despair rune does not go through accuracy check, so the unit can have 0 accuracy and will still despair stun 25% of the time. so you dont need accuracy if you are running despair unless the unit has skills that need them

41:38 this could be go with Fire Warbear (Ursha) usually people put him on despair but I believe he can do a lot of damage without the rage runes so idk 1:02:43 there are some exception for unit that need crt rate to do the debuff but I don't think you will need it on violent

How do you know which sets to use on certain mods. The skills don't tell you what rune does best with that skill. y'know...I toss all 5 star 2/4/6 runes...except speed slot 2. The difference between 5 and 6 star is only 3 speed. If they roll super-efficiently, I don't see why you wouldn't keep them.

ok so I'm mid game (I think) I only struggle with b12 dragons (not consistent) I have all beasts S-SSS quite regularly, I do TOAH easily and here's my question: Should I even keep 5* purple runes? I max out my run inventory all the time... My critiria are: speed, no res, if it rolls flat, out. But then if I sell all of my 5* purple runes I end up with no runes at all xD

Is my rune quality too high? I just transitioned into mid game and I've been refusing to keep blue runes for months now. And I just purged all 5* runes.

purgin 5* runes is normal since theres b12 but if you pull something like a blue slot 2 rage rune atk% with spd and critrate substats you shud definitely keep because there's a high chance it u can get +18 spd and +6crit rate can be grinded along with spd , which is probably better than most slot 2 rage atk% u may have, also another thing about 5* runes they are still usable on slot 1,3,5 also always roll 5* legendary runes with speed subs if you get them, because they can help your turn 1 boosters,

I can complete ToAN (auto) ToAH (manual the latter half, SS or SSS rank in all Rift Beasts except for Dark which is still A+, I can auto gb12 but only about a 50% win rate so still sticking with gb10, db10, and nb10. I'm Fighter 2-3 consistently in arena with a farming defense and without pushing for a higher rank. I feel like I just reached mid game though.

Idk the first thing abt runing, i thought i was doing it right by doing the 2set and 4set effects right at least, and managing to power up 5* and 6* runes to +12 and +15. But i was confused how stats like hp and def even when I focused on that only went up maybe 4k. Where when I saw someone's rune set on the same mon with 10k and it was so ridiculous im so lost im gonna die
