Looks like a game I'd be interested in. Board and components are intuitive to play. Symbols are clear. Not sure there's anything groundbreaking about it though.

I think this is a great game and great video. I backed based on your video alone. The camera showing the cards up close was fabulous and really surprised me. One slight thing to point up. You had a problem with the 8 stones and getting variety, but the kickstarter indicates the base game has 24 of them. Good job once again.

Could you kindly comment on the level on player interaction compared to other deck builders, for example, does it feel solitaire? Do I need to be interested in an opponents plays?
@rahdo5 жыл бұрын
it is a very solitaire-ish experience, no doubt, like many deckbuilders. in the prototype i have, there's no cards that create any real interaction between players. but i know they're planning on expansions, so that might add more? that said, the players can make the board shift quite a bit, so it is worthwhile paying attention to guess when they might be going for artifacts (and which ones) because if they get there before you, it will radically shake up the board, and that might help or hinder you depending on the timing :)

I must say just judging by the gameplay from this video this is a brilliantly designed game I am just loving everything about it. Deck destruction is a sorely underutilized mechanic in these sorts of games where usually it's just a special action you take to get rid of unwanted cards. But here it's mandatory in a way that gives you so much more to think about in terms of sacrificing cards permanently. Like trying to figure out what cards do you want to use as a meat shield to where you don't have to get rid of the one your entire game plan might be revolving around and making that sort of choice nearly every round. I think it's just brilliant and hopefully this mechanic sees more use in the future, plus I'm just a complete sucker for old school epic fantasy fare. XD Excellent rundown as always, I highly respect how you always add a disclaimer when it comes to payments and also make it clear to people this is just your own take on things.

Based on this comment... take at look at the Valley of the Kings series. Removing cards from your deck is a basic option you have, with the twist that cards still in your deck at the end of the game don't score. Lots of tough choices to make, since every turn you're choosing which card (if any) to remove for points, which cards to use for cash, and which special abilities to use. (Every card has a value and a special ability, and you can only use one of the two.)

@@rahdo Haha, yeah, demoed Sierra West non-stop still it sold out Friday. The Rune Stones base game had plenty of good content-and the KS offers the extra runes Queenie and the expansion which has more cards and a modular board. It all looks great, but I only played the base. Very excited for this game overall. Other GenCon 2019 highlights for me were Imhotep Duel, , Black Angel, and Valley of the Vikings (HABA, SDJ). I also grabbed Watergate, Kingdomino Duel, Las Vegas Royal and a few other little goodies. I could only pack so much!

Hey Rahdo how well does this play with 2p? Do you think it suffers in any way from the lower player count?
@rahdo5 жыл бұрын
i've only played it as a 2p game, but tbh i think it will be better at that player count, because the board doesn't change quite so much from round to round with only one other player potentially grabbing stuff. so you can go for longer term strategizing, rather than being more tactical as the stuff you want disappears more quickly. but some might prefer the more tactical higher player count game, i suppose :)

so to simplify: extremely basic cards, mechanically, different colors but all round, is not colorblindfriendly. Board is outright ugly. Thanks for the video, moving on.
