About the game:

People seem to be worried about the "room" concept, but based on what Andrew said in that article, it seems to be that "room" is just a term used to describe a section of the map. I think this is a super interesting concept that is likely based on dynamic lighting used in virtual tabletop simulators.

Combat is point and click with some abilities. However, the system itself isn't tick based, e.g people do tick manipulations on OSRS

There is a Polish developer that put out a game called Broken Ranks - remake of a game called Pride of Taern that had that isometric room-by-room exploration element and honestly - I loved it, there are instances for boss fights and the maps are very tight, compact and meaningful, with high level content being intertwined in lower level maps. Definitely sucked a good amount of hours out of me. PvP was enabled in certain small sections of the map (could be the equivalent of a few squares on this grid) but they were always in strategic places. The game is quite niche sadly and if you didn't keep up with the tryhards it was difficult to find groups to grind out boss content with. Combat and professions aspects arecompletely different (Combat was actually turn based). But it definitely shows that the MUD/ Table-top room-by-room design can be very immersive depending on the size and the packed content. Rooms could often branch out and interlink in really engaging ways so I'm sure it will still suck in the oponents of this type of design.

Brighter shores will likely be on steam deck other handheld and I imagine, eventually developed for mobile with the latest gameplay released it looks perfect for mobile.

Depth of field+draw distance seen in clips and "table top view" is a recipe for disaster unfortunately. Knowing how capable UE 5 has become in recent 6-8months. Andrews new engine is irrelevant from day1. It is like bringing sticks and stones into interstellar battlefield

Yes i believe its just different types of magic than leads to different types of playstyles. You can still be melee, mage and range as you wish i believe.

so so on the QnA, didnt like his answer about the difficulty of the game, i feel like his logic is out dated these days, especially if you are comparing it to runescape which lets be honest everyone is, and the content runescape just released(the quiver) and how challenging that event can be, so for him to say that the game is meant to just be very easy and relaxed with the exception of a boss or two kinda is a bummer(for me personally). I dont think having easy content that you can just run through brainlessly is a good thing, we have seen games that have more difficult challenges be very successful, and games that are very easy usually get boring very fast as there isnt anything keeping you engaged if you can just beat down all of it instantly. Im also not sure how appealing the "room" system sounds from this QnA, i feel like when you play an MMO you want to see a ton of people, you want to feel like you are in a big event and everyone can show off their gear and achievements, so hopefully this room system is not too limiting on how many players you can see, obviously im not saying i want to see 10k ppl on my screen, but i also dont want to see only 10 per room, im not sure if bigger areas would increase the number or what, but its just something i was thinking about while reading his answers. Again its just my perspective on this as im sure there are already fanboy defenders of this game that isnt out yet getting ready to flame anyone who might not like everything thats put out on this game but its just a few things that i thought were key takeaways from this QnA.

I'm fine without any arbitrary difficulty spikes or focus on difficulty. I'm firmly in the camp that doesn't bother with raids, dark souls, or other things like that - so there're definitely people that will like this.

@@SyndicateOperative its not so much a focus on difficulty, but its more so on the integrity of the game and its longevity, if every item you can get has no meaning because its easy, then its all meaningless, as of right now PvP has not been announced, so PvE accomplishments is all you have to show that you have even played this game, from Elden Ring, to Dragons Dogma, to OSRS hell even arpg's like POE or last epoch, all the top tier games with the most success of late, have those difficulty tiers or achievements, you could even call it "end game", im most likely being overly dramatic, but i hope its more than 1 or 2 bosses that will be challenging otherwise im not sure what there will be to do in the game beyond the usual couple days worth of play time if we have nothing to strive for. It was more so the wording that got my attention, usually these type of graphical games are very in depth and have a lot of things to do and achieve, like RavenDawn for example, one of the deepest games of this genre with crazy late game achievements, housing, puzzles, ship warfare and even PvP with the same tile system. Hopefully we get a lot more information soon because im not sure how much these QnA's are helping tbh, very vague and simplistic answers kind of cast more confusion then clarity. At the end of the day its not a big deal, ive probably exaggerated a bit of the games progress without knowing majority of the details, so hopefully more information comes out just giving clarity on the actual state of the game and its end game.

I think it just wants to focus on the base game and the starting experience first, but he did mention bosses - I imagine as time goes on these bosses will get more and more challenging because the community will demand it. However, its that idea of being able to have mostly relaxing content, but yes it does need to have challenging content so it scratches the itch of the players who like a challenge.

I'd also agree with what BrighterShoresCentral pointed out - these kinds of things are normally added way later (like in RS/OSRS), once dedicated players have run out of content and want more. If that time comes... well, hopefully they'll add what you want.
