I love the juxtapositioning of hebrew and arabic, which carries it's own signifiers. The direct call to Israel is also relevant, given the situation in the middle east. That line translates to God being one in the same, the line shows a difference in language, culture - though the belief is the same. The line is a neighbour, much like Israel and it's counterparts. It flows into one another, and the way Aaron delivers it is pure and humble and peaceful. The band as well heightens this feeling of peace in that moment. The pulling of the guitar distortions, piano - a sense of silence and vibration at the same time. I see MewithoutYou as a body of work, something to sit and analyse, and something to sit back and to just listen to.

This is majesty performed! I have been a huge fan of mewithoutyou since A/B Life. This is by far their best song. Beyond description. Ineffable. I can listen to it on repeat and only enjoy it more every time. Incredible!

It just really feels like they've gone back to their best sound, and that goes double for this track and Red Cow/Dorothy. The guitar riff at around 3:21 is so rough and nasty sounding (...which I personally love) - brilliant song, brilliant album, and brilliant band.

It's about his dad dying. Aaron uses a lot of religious imagery in his words. There's a lot of references to the end of the world in this song.

The key line to understanding the song is the lines: "god gave Noah the rainbow sign, no more water it's the h bomb next time" This is referencing where the bible explained the rainbow was Gods promise to man he would never flood the world again. So the implication is the world will end with the h bomb next time instead of by gods flood. Essentially meaning man has usurped gods power when we became capable of destroying the world ourselves. In the context of the song Aaron feels like his world has been essentially destroyed as this is mostly about the death of his father.

i heard in an interview that aaron had 10+ themes he wanted to cover in this album, from his wedding and fathers death all the way to the apocolypse. instead of writing seperate songs for each things, he mixed these themes in the lyrics to all the songs on this album. this is why the themes often change from one verse to the next.
