You’re absolutely not too old to be setting PBs! I believe your best days are still ahead! I’m sure the Boston-London travel, all-night video editing, and all the events with time on feet had a cumulative effect. Way to tough it out when you knew early on it wasn’t going to go well 🙌🏼

Definitely 👍 I also think a lot of people have struggled in Spring Marathons so far this year. I know that I certainly did. Kofuzi is still a young man. Always dents your confidence for a while when you run a bad one though, which can often help out in your next big race when expectations are lowered but you want it more. Great video this ❤ which made London look really exciting from the perspective of a runner from the other side of the pond 🙂

Way to grit it out to the finish and get that medal! Great commentary on how sometimes the marathon (and the sport in running in general) is a fickle beast. You didn't get paid this weekend...but the hard and dedicated work you did for the past few months will pay off down the road in the future! I honestly think you can still PR by quite a bit at all distances (from the Mile, 5k, 10k, half and Marathon). We've got to look at your work/sleep and diet balance a bit more perhaps (as well as maybe some blood work/nutrition stuff). You've also had to put in a ton of content/video work/editing and social events over the past few weeks leading into this and that can certainly be draining/exhausting. Not to mention all the international travel. Hope you are staying healthy and recovering well and safe travels back!
@rych78529 ай бұрын
The "work/sleep" balance is what I took from this film. I'm sure Ko will make the decision to cut back significantly on media and event commitments when he goes to Berlin in September.
@1519Spring9 ай бұрын
Coach Sage nailed all the factors that played into Ko's "not so mysterious" underperformance in London. I'd say, though, that Ko really seems to enjoy spending time with his friends and fans, so as long as his expectations for the race are in line with reality, it is OK not to focus on times PBs/PRs. When Ko was focused on sub 3, he dialed back the circus and met that goal.

Ah man this is so awesome. As a Brit, when you said you needed to carb load...then cut to you eating a Cornish Pasty, I was cracking up. Awesome video and makes me miss London! On performance, you were amazing ... but that busy schedule / time on feet prior to the race, on top of the travel and jet lag effects surely had an effect. It's so tough on these overseas races, but especially so when you're Kofuzi!! Keep going man and you're NEVER too old for a PB...just today I took my Half Marathon PB from 1:27:10 to 1:23:27, at the ripe old age of 47 💪

But it was nice to see you and participate in the Soar Shake out run. It was also VERY VERY cold for this time of year. Normally a bit warmer. You know what us Brits are like and our obsession with the weather! 😂😂 Don't beat yourself up over not running a PB on this day in history. You finished when the going was tough. Thats a win! And you'll get PBs again in the future! (Edit to add) Ben Parkes always looks perplexed by the attention he receives. Never met the guy, but he seems a decent chap.
