And the love between you and BITR crew AND the high-5s on the chain was great to see after hearing you talk about the loneliness. As someone that spends a lot of time away from my family for work, I know those moments don’t replace the family but they help.

Michael I have been watching and enjoying your videos for years but today I wasn't the only one enjoying this amazing trip to Japan. My whole family happened to be in the living room when I started watching it and they all enjoyed it to the last minute and started asking stuff about you and your trip 😁👌

This video reminded me so much of when I was there in 2016 for the marathon. Running around the Imperial Palace, not knowing how to order ramen from a vending machine all written in Japanese, navigating the train/subway system, having a blast site-seeing and exploring the city. Thanks for helping relive those memories, Mike! I'm glad you had a great experience in Tokyo!

This was great! You did a wonderful job of catching many aspects of the Japanese culture, cuisine, daily life, etc. It's especially cool that this video was made by a runner with the ties you have to the running community. Well done! (Oh and the fact that most of the people were wearing masks everywhere just speaks to their wonderful culture, education and basic respect for others).

Mike congratulations on this excellent vlog and getting another major medal. In 2020 I came here 13 days after the race had cancelled on me - watching the 200 elites run instead. Disappointed and frustrated I don’t think I wanted to see the best of Japan. Yet the way you have told your narrative confirmed what an experience I have just has in closing out the Majors in Tokyo and reliving many of your observations for me, the second time around. Thank you.

I've been watching Mike's vlogs for several years now and this one is my favourite ! My wife and I spent some time in Japan a couple of years ago and had some similar experiences. We stayed in the suburb of Asaka at an Air Bnb. There was a river with gravel paths along side for miles that I ran on each morning. It was a special experience. Looks like Mike had a special experience as well.

FASCINATING! My partner went to graduate school in Japan and we're big ramen eaters, so he's told me how different the ramen experience is in Japan. About the vending machines and the anonymous serving and eating alone, so it was great watching your video and having that supplement all the things he's told me through the years. It's incredible that there hasn't been an army of Starbucks taking over th cityscape given the impression I've gotten from you that the coffee there is terrible, lol. The singlet is SICK!!! It's like a work of art, much like this video! Thank you for taking me to Tokyo via your video. I am saving this because if I ever do get to Tokyo, this is going to be a great reference point to start from!

I've just revisited this film after returning from the 2024 event. Like Mike I couldn't sleep well due to jet lag (Flew from the UK) 20:55 "the sense of loneliness was suddenly immeasurable" I had that EXACT feeling on my 2nd night when I couldn't sleep at 3am! Was very, very weird! I'm not the most emotional person, but I felt that sadness you get when you've had a bereavement of someone special! The brain is a funny thing when its tired but cant turn off!
