I was in a showing of 'Wizards' when this trailer was first shown. There was genuine enthusiasm from the audience. Though it looks silly now, even this first look was mind-blowing for the audience in 1976.

A dealer in the dealer's room at a Star Trek convention had this very trailer showing at his table back in '76. He loved it. I thought "ho hum, it won't amount to much". Boy was I wrong. Learned to appreciate Star Wars over the years.

It’s amazing how the movie looks totally different than it does today!

No music in the trailer goes to show how much power John Williams score had in elevating the whole saga!!!

The trailer was released while the movie was in post production. You'll also notice they had not yet added color to the light sabers.

The music was one of the best parts of the movie. Just the opening credits score alone was worth the price of admission.

It’s amazing this little trailer spawned the biggest franchise in history

What would I not give to see that movie in a cinema in 35mm.

Especially an original print. Or imagine if they found a master negative in an archive somewhere and made a couple new prints from that.

Even better in 70MM and 6-track Dolby Stereo. Seeing it in 35 is great, in 70 it was a phenomenal experience. Imagine that magnificent score encompassing the entire theater. Saw it presented that way five times at the long -gone UA 150 theater in Seattle.

I saw this trailer, over 30 years ago, in a video rental store in Brattleboro, VT, on a kind of laser disc juke box. The lack of the John Williams music, as well as the colorless llightsabers and laser blasts, made it seem almost cheap and unworthy.

The movie was in post production when the trailer was released. The color and sounds were not finished.

Like a Roger Corman trailer, kinda battle beyond the stars is what you thought you'd get

Interesting that the sound effects sound ad hoc and not complete in the trailer.

Seems weird without the original soundtrack playing in the random scenes they threw together to make this trailer.

I remember seeing this trailer with my older brother who panned it as looking like just another cheesy B grade sci-fi flick.

In fairness though, this trailer would've been quite impressive at the time. I think the closest thing would've been the original Star Trek(obviously before they touched up those reruns in recent years).

This is very funny to watch. Star Wars was so close to being a disaster.
