Running a ski boat on a trailer/bucket

I use a washing machine hose. Connect one end to the garden hose, connect the other end to a 3/4 pipe 4” nipple. The O.D. of the pipe fits perfectly in the 1” intake hose.

Just tried this way for the first time. I like it better than the fake a lake method. My driveway doesn't flood with the extra water from the fake a lake...Thanks

I have a 1994 Ski Nautique. Summit Racing sells hose barbs that will allow you to adapt the bucket hose. The hoses on my boat are smaller so I will need a barb and another piece of hose. I will know what size to get next time I am at the lake.

I ended up buying a 1 inch to 1/2'' reducer coupler to adapt the kit to my boat. I used to clamp the hose nozzle to the hose in the boat, but I had to adjust the water flow after starting. It was fine while winterizing since the impeller would be coming out anyway. Now I will be able to test it in the spring without worrying about the impeller. It will make it easier to fill the boat with antifreeze and fog at the same time the next time I winterize.

what is the part number for the hose? where do this attach on my ford windsor 351?, 1972 Ski Nautique

MEC-0070 Connect in the most convenient joint between the raw water pump and the water inlet fitting.

Why not just run a hose from the raw water pump impeller to the 5 gallon bucket instead of the trans cooler?

The attachment was about a quarter of an inch too big to properly fit into the transmission cooler. Had to use a hose clamp to tighten it on for a better fit.

Our hose adapter kit is designed for the common 1 1/4" hose, some of the ski boats from the 70's used 1" hose, there you would want a sleeve to make up the size difference.

I have a 120 hp mercruiser. Engine built in 1987 per mercury. Where would I hook the hose to? Thank you

The bucket/hose method is not applicable to your engine/drive, you can simply use the "ear-muff" style adapter.

Yes, our shop is not on a lake & we run any ski boat on a bucket, some may be more difficult to connect than others but it is still the preferred way to run a ski boat on a trailer.

Would this work for winterizibg it too just instead put 5 gallons of pink stuff in the bucket ?

Yes, but you'd have to be sure the thermostat was open to get the pink stuff into the right parts of the engine.

Also if you start the engine and it’s not sucking the water out put the boat in neutral a rev the engine a tad to prime the impeller. My Malibu will only suck water after I bump the RPMs a tad

What size hose and where did you purchase it?
