We were happy to cross into Malawi, maybe you can tell by the mood of the video :D. It was fun to rewatch all those moments while editing. ENJOY!

I remember that fear or feeling when you drive and see any uniform then you freeze in your shoes , i sense it in your video. You guys got guts for sure. Not to mention the masses of beggars !

Great video as usual. It brings back a lot of memories as we did Cairo to Cape Town in our Land Rover Defender 8 years ago. We found that if you got any officials talking about football, they would forget what they were going to fine you for! We loved Mushroom Farm but the road up to it was interesting to say the least!
@Thebluelandy Жыл бұрын
Thank you so much!! The football topic is always a winner. Absolutely everyone knows about players either in Real Madrid, Barcelona and Bayer Munich, so the discussion about favorite teams always is a good resource on the road. Regarding Mushroom Farm, the road there makes it even more special! Great views and a little sport for the Landy 👌

Hi Kay ! Super video once again. Finally the Land seems watertight: at least when the water goes in, it doesn't come out! 😊😅 Bonne chance !

Hey Laurent, the last videos were edited by Irati! of course can a Landy hold water, preferably in the doors. Otherwise they would not rot away…

Oh wow, this was interesting and even funny. Nice job dealing with the police and the improvised reflectors. My favorite part was when I heard the GPS telling you to make a U-turn 😂😂
@Thebluelandy Жыл бұрын
Hey thank you, it was actually fun to deal with them. Haha yeah sometimes you gotta ignore the GPS, but sometimes it’s right 😅

Stunning landscapes as always. I must admit I laughed when the water came in, but because I though those things only happened to me! The wiring looks terrible, just like my 110. Installed a breaker switch on the negative to ground to prevent fire risk.
@Thebluelandy Жыл бұрын
I know, but trust me I know what every cable is doing! And I’ve no clue how to make it look more tidy! If you have it figured out let me know! I tried a breaker on minus but I’ve never managed to cut all connections, and in the end I thought it’s to risky to have an open or undefined ground in an emergency, therefore I cut the positive and turn off the solar…
@12kerryman Жыл бұрын
Well you are in a better place than me so, I can't id all the cables - so many old cables

Thank you for sharing your great adventure!. I have to say it is logical to have a third part insurence when driving a car annywhere in the world and having crossed a lot of border post by road in the region I now it is easy to purchase one at every border post (Malawi, Tanzania, Zambia,etc) If you have a foreign registred vehicule you will always be asked for it when stopped by the local police. My point is this problematic is easely avoided...;) Back in the days I used Comesa insurence that I could purchase in Lilongwe when travelling to Tanzania or Zambia.
@Thebluelandy Жыл бұрын
Hey, we also planned to get Comesa and went to a broker in Kenia but it is not possible to get Comesa anymore with a foreign registration. Therefore we had to purchase insurance where it was necessary at the border.

I know the visa process for European countries is terrible and humiliating. I wish it would be different, we would like to host everyone that we meet on our trip, but the sad reality is that this will be difficult.

Darf ich euch was fragen?
@Thebluelandy Жыл бұрын

@Thebluelandy Жыл бұрын

Unfortunately, like a number of third world countries, the police try to supplement their low pay by harassing overlanders. By the way, love the reflectors.

The main thing when traveling through Southern Africa is indeed to show them you have all the time in the world. The next action I would take if I was you would be to pretend you don’t speak English at the road blocks, speak only German then they will not be able to communicate with you as well as make up fines or ask for bribes
@Thebluelandy Жыл бұрын
Hey Russell, indeed to pretend to not speak English would be a easy way out. But I’ve to admit I’ve too much fun dealing with police to do that 😂🙈

Years ago Mozambique police was a pest like this police. Every where you went they used to stop and rob you. I remember one day the police stopped me in Maputo , while the one was attracting my attention the others stole my back lights out of my car. I got a big fine for no backlights and i had to buy my own lights back from them
