For me personally it was about my Mental Wealth. Had to get away from the constant media division and political BS. Since moving to Mexico my overall health has improved greatly. I have lost weight and am no longer on meds. It is difficult to watch the news from where I am from, 5 minutes and its off. Used to watch/listen to the news for hours a day.

Yes I love that too! I also love how even lots of those junk foods also have less chemicals in them and in fact most ingredients even though bad for you are mostly natural. Not going to lie but the thing that has improved the most for me in the 5 years I have been living in Mexico has been my health. It is night and day to what it used to be. It's incredible to even fathom. In fact I could never really see me living in the US ever again because I simply would not know what to eat anymore...... Thank goodness for Mexico!

I have been seeing many youtubers from Canada, the USA, Germany, etc. It is very sad how they talk about their situation in their countries and they saw a life like this as normal where they earned good money in their jobs but they did not know that they were not happy, but when they decided to leave and arrived in Mexico They opened their eyes to another reality and to work to live, it is very sad that there are people living like this, in Mexico life is not perfect but you live happily even if you don't make as much money there are other things That they are more important than money, hopefully your viewers who feel suffocated or unhappy in their first world countries take that step and turn their lives around and realize that there is a way to To be happy and live peacefully 😢

But for a person who decides to immigrate to Mexico with only a buck but with all that energy usually a new immigrant carries with him or her, the salary in Mexico averages $16,000 per month in another Mexican state, and that is a good start. Then he or she can escalte, as you say to start a his or her own busines.... I believe he or she can make it. You know, it all takes determination and never give up.

Well bro, im Mexcian American, born and raised here in the states. I was lucky because my parents and my family always made sure i experienced life both in the states and in Mexico. I lived in both countries off and on my entire life. One thing i always have known in my life; I always planned to retire in Mexico. Now im realizing that dream. I am wealthy, yes. made my wealth here in the states. At 47, I am in the process of buying a home in my favorite beach town in Sonora. Simpler way of life is true. Ill keep my house in the states for sure. I need somewhere to keep all my cars lol. Pero, mi Mexico Lindo? That is my home. and i want to live out my days there.

Yes you do. If it rains outside the water will be ice cold same as when Winter is here and its 65 outside. Water heater is not used year round but it is a good idea to have one unless you like ICE COLD Showers when the temperature drops

Excellent video Jose, thanks. Mexico checks off all of the boxes for me but one. That box is the litter problem that is pervasive in the country. I see the litter in your video and I have seen it in many parts of Mexico. For a people that are so respectful of each other, the family unit, foreigners, I just do not understand why that respect does not extend itself out into the streets and beyond. I am trying to make peace with this garbage littering issue but asking about it appears to be a taboo subject in my experience. What do you advise?

Most small mercados and tiendas don't post prices and if you don't know very much Spanish and you look like a richer tourist, sometimes they will give you precios gringo. Stay with the markets until you get know the price of things and your Spanish is good enough to call them out if they try it. Learn some phrases that you can blurt out quickly and not measured like "No quiero precios gringo" (add esta ves!" if applicable) followed by "Ire a otro lugar" seems to work. If they don't give you a break say "Bueno, podria haber sido un buen cliente" and walk out. They are still very inexpensive at the bigger markets. Buena suerte!

They are much cheaper. I really cant tell you an exact price but I would say 30-50% less in many cases sometimes more.

That's not always the case David. That happens more in areas with many expats or touristy areas. It does not happen in regular neighborhoods where you are the only foreigner. Also remember Mexico is a huge country and not every place is going to treat foreigners the same. But in my experience I have never had any kind of price increase in any of small local stores no matter where In Mexico I've been

I love the ability to bike all over the place. Brings me back to childhood. here in USA city where I live most people have to go somewhere to cycle safely. It’s just not a cycle-friendly infrastructure or terrain. The city is trying but it is what it is. The places you’re cycling to in this video; is it normally so sparsely populated? Mérida sure looks appealing but the temperatures might be a dealbreaker for me. I’d need to find a more temperate zone of 65-85F!

Enjoy the taxes, the inflation, the hallway medical treatment! Crime is through the roof, the criminals have more right's then innocent citizens. Revolving door ~ charged and released within an hour. I've never seen so many homeless people and beggers on street corners, thanks to the current federal government policies. I agree with you, foreigners can come and restore that balance (which I think is being lost in cities like CDMX) between working and living life... recover that relevance of family life that they had in the 50s or 60s in the USA . Humility is very important for integration. Mexican society despises arrogance, even in some places it can provoke aggressive rejection. I recommend that you be "the nice gringo" cool and not with an elitist attitude of only living with Americans and I live where all the Americans live and we create a colony of Americans because that is going to generate a caste division and the history of Mexico has been a Fight against the caste system. There are social classes yes, but there is no particular group that forms the upper social classes. Integration is the key. And it is important that foreigners also contribute culture to the communities they arrive at because that way there is a growing cultural richness... Greetings and good luck.

The Mexican Peso is appreciating non-stop against the USD . . watch out ! If you are going to move to Mexico don´t delay ! because your currency is shrinking. Actually the Mex Peso surpassed Gold in appreciation . . not kidding look at the graphics.

Definitely we Gringo's have more Freedoms in Mexico. We can say things even Mexican's have a hard time hearing from Mexican's. Whyt 1.) We don't really know in depth the Political situations here in Mexico - so they know we just said "something stupid". 2.) They're so used to Gringo's saying dumb things, because we don't really know what's going on. 3.) That hey are so used to hearing these dumb comments for over 100 years - that there are actually famous expressions in Spanish, that describe this. Mexico on average is 300% safer than living in USA! Staying away from the border areas, Michoacan, parts of Guanajuato near Ceyala, certain neighborhoods of CDMX - and some big cities after midnight. It is a whole lot safer in Mexico.

I’ve lived in Latin America for three years, over a year in Mexico, and visited all but 4 of the states. It’s a diverse country for sure, but some things are the same throughout, albeit to varying degrees. I will tell you that this is not a safe country - according to many stats, the least safe in Latin America. Most political and social institutions are corrupt to the core. You might be able to find an expat niche, a well-secured residence, or a peaceful town, but the corruption and mistrust will always be present. Money can disappear from your bank account. The police can pull you over for a made up infraction and extort you for up to hundreds of dollars and potentially “impound” (i.e. steal) your vehicle if you don’t comply. Food inflation is not the worst in Latam, but it’s enough to mean tensions are increasing. Being able slip through the cracks of a disorganized system or bribe your way out of things may make you feel more free sometimes, but everything is fine until it’s not. Women go missing every day in cities in all parts of the country. People who do not keep a low profile can be kidnapped. If you get into legal troubles you cannot rely on a functional judicial system to ensure a fair outcome. You constantly have to be mistrusting of people’s intentions and be wary of scams. In the worst areas, people live in fear and do not keep their business open or go out after 6pm (I’ve seen this first hand in places like Acayucan). Mexico is a fun place to travel or take a holiday and visit nature or ancient sites, but living here is not likely to live up to what KZbinrs sell to you to get views. You might enjoy a geoarbitrage opportunity if you earn from the US and live in Mexico, but it’s not safe to domicile that money here because info can be shared making you a target, and if your foreign earnings dry up you will either have to learn dishonest tactics and take on a lot of risk to survive as an entrepreneur, or join the regular Mexicans who work the longest hours in Latin America (weekends are normally just one day) to earn very little. There are many wonderful people and aspects of the culture, but even these people will tell you that the majority in this country are not good people. It’s a textbook narcostate and it will affect you if you live here long term. I feel terrible for my Mexican friends who are trying to push forward as good people and live an honest life, when the rest are ruining it for them. I wish I could post an optimistic message, but I don’t see things like the corruption improving anytime soon, although the country does have better demographics than most richer countries, and might benefit from the shift towards a multipolar world. Under the right circumstances you might make a great life for yourself here. But it’s certainly not a paradise and these things that the KZbinrs neglect to mention need to be discussed

@@JoseArteagaTravels I could talk a lot more about what’s messed up and what’s wonderful about Mexico. Personally I’m selling up moving on from here in a couple of weeks, but keeping on eye on things to decide if I return to convert my residence document into permanent ones. I agree the US is in dire straits, and there will be a big decline in living standards, but I think so far things seem mainly limited to big cities in blue states. I’m not from the US but I don’t think many of the things I’ve described about Mexico apply to US; there is still a strong ethical backbone in much of the country, and it’s also likely they will recover from this crisis to emerge as a *relatively* wealthy country simply due to how amazing the country’s geography is, and how much intellectual capital is there. Mexico is geographically beautiful but it simply doesn’t compare to the US, the inner cordillera and lack of navigable rivers makes it very hard to traverse, plus cultural differences (people are more visceral and focused on the arts rather than sciences etc). There is a reason people still want to migrate in hordes from here to the US. Let me know where you agree and disagree ;)

We can have a SIMPLE LIFE here in the U.S.A.. As a society we CHOSE to live in the rat race we have created! Some of you may not like this , but it's true! CITIZENS of the U.S.A. have this "sense of entitlement " Income has been be $100,00 or more a year, brand new homes. Bigger than you need or can afford. Same with cars, motorcycles, R.V.S etc. Citizens of the United States don't know how to save money either. Citizens of the United States look to the Government for hand outs! Running away to another country is not the answer. The grass is not always greener on the other side. Think about this. Who is to say that the U.S. Government will suspend S.S. payments for citizens living abroad....... Don't think that this can never happen. The dollar is no longer the currency of the world, so living In Mexico is going to get more and more expensive. In order for the United States to change, our culture needs to change. Bring manufacturer back to the United States to start. Only hire citizens of the United States, stop sending our tax dollars over seas, secure of BOARDERS, rebuild our infrastructure, make sure every citizen understands the U.S. CONSTITUTION, if you are 18 you, mandatory 2 years in the military. (Get rid of the WOKENESS in our Military and society. Bring God back into our families, schools, and Court system. This is a start, but we need to be willing and open minded for POSITIVE change, not the DEEP STATE CHANGE. "YOU WILL OWN NOTHING AND BE HAPPY, 15 Minute Cities, artificial intelligence everywhere. This country is doomed if we don't WAKE UP and FAST!!

But right now most people realize Life is SHORT and very Precious and most people want to make sure those moments are spent in a place with a very high quality of life . When I was young, the "Milkman" who delivered a gallon of milk to our front door for twenty cents, made a living wage with 3 kids and a wife at home. My first job started me at the minimum wage of $4.75 an hour, now the minimum wage in many states is still only at $7.00 an hour. The grass is only as green as you make. I could go on but its a beautiful Sunday and my neighbor's kid's just came by to give me a big bowl of their mothers home made Atun Ceviche! Hola desde Ensenada!

Those “annoying” housing regulations in the US are mostly for public safety. What you call “freedom to do what you want” could be creating deadly living conditions. My sister was on vacation in Mexico when there was a near-fatal gas explosion in the home they were renting. They were fortunate to have survived. 😢
