Running Distortion & Fuzz in Parallel, featuring the BOSS LS-2 Line Selector

So here we'll be running the MXR EVH 5150 Overdrive & Electro-Harmonix Op-Amp Big Muff in Parallel using the BOSS LS-2 Line Selector in the "A+B MIX/Bypass" mode.
You can use the A+B Mix mode to run Delay and Reverb in Parallel, two Modulation pedals like Phaser and Flanger in Parallel, or two Overdrives in Parallel. I thought it would be cool and interesting to run Distortion and Fuzz in Parallel.
This was a happy accident/convenience I stumbled upon. I knew running Distortion and Fuzz in Series would be too much saturation. So I decided, Parallel it is. I was pretty happy and satisfied with the end result.

I like using a gated fuzz in Channel A and a dimed Rangemaster clone in Channel B. It's fun to plug an EHX Attack/Decay (with the internal comp deactivated) into the front of the LS-2. You get the bright chime of the Rangemaster plus the added texture of the gated fuzz, both being pushed by the Attack/Decay's volume swell.

LS-2 style pedals are a must for bass players too. You can retain the clean low end, and add gainy mids and drive sounds on top, whilst scoping separate EQ/compressors for both. Anothr amazing pedal for this is the mini mixer by EHX. Lets you stack 3.

I use an ABY. Great for stacking gain, especially if You want that Recto Wall of Sound and a beautiful ambient clean or lead! The line select is an amazing tool! That is an incredible board

I'd rather listen to a guitarist who knows how to use 4 guitar pedals really well than a guitarist with 20 pedals who sounds like shit. When it comes to guitar pedals, quantity does not necessarily mean quality.

@@Joe-mz6dc True, nice pedals can’t compensate for poor playing. You gotta have a good tone w/o any effects, then you can build on that. One thing I do sometimes is play electric unplugged…you’ve got nothing to help you, you gotta make sure your playing is solid!

1. Kohlekeller Studios has a similar video, and it pushed me to buy some gear and try for myself. For anyone curious who can afford it, do it. The "Stylish Fuzz" from Donner is a cheap and workable Fuzz pedal if you lack one. 2. Those MXR EQ lights are blinders, ain't they?
