A video diary of my run from Queens' College, Cambridge - where I studied for my PhD - to St Edmund Hall, Oxford - where I now work - covering 127km in 13 hours 22 minutes and 13 seconds.
Day 1 - 61 km
Leg 1: Cambridge to Bassingbourn-cum-Kneesworth 21 km
Leg 2: Bassingbourn-cum-Kneesworth to Letchworth Garden City 20 km
Leg 3: Letchworth Garden to Luton 20 km
Day 2 - 66 km
Leg 1: Luton to Aylesbury 28 km
Leg 2: Aylesbury to Long Crendon 15 km
Leg 3: Long Crendon to Wheatley 14 km
Leg 4: Wheatley to Oxford 9 km
HUGE thanks to my brother, George Crawford, for planning the route and dragging me through to the end, and also to my Dad, Thomas Crawford, for cycling with us as the support team. I wouldn't have made it without either of you.
Produced by Dr Tom Crawford at the University of Oxford.

What a great role model! This guy needs to be on TV teaching our kids. He not only teaches math but also how to live life and be ever upbeat. Tom is our happy space on U Tube. Math was a long time ago for me but just listening to him makes me curious about how things work.

Awesome! I haven’t done much running but I have lots of biking. That last km looked awful, when the body doesn’t even have the energy to scream at you anymore, and you’re going purely on well power lol. Congratulations! 🏆 You know, a sponsor with a team-van full of food water first-aid, and a mattress would’ve been super.

Congratulations! 🏆 You’ve inspired me for the 100-mile bike ride I’m planning in a little over a week. When you got to the end of the first day I was wondering what you would do to ease the stiffness in your muscles and joints. After a ride, I rely on a good long walk to get some relief in my legs. I can’t imagine there’d be any appeal in a walk after a full day of running.
@TomRocksMaths
@TomRocksMaths 3 жыл бұрын
I jumped in a cold bath to try to ease my legs, and walked to the pub down the road before consuming several pints to replenish the lost salts. Also went for a short (3km) run the day after we finished just to help ease the stiffness.
