That’s my first time seeing that area and I have to agree! It’s very special and ‘tropical’! 😍 Hard to leave like so many places I’m sure! This is a nice change watching sailing over on the Cali side. My friend from there told me about those winds so I found this very interesting! Great technical info (including the headline script) 😂

So glad that you are playing it so safe, ie heading for the mainland to take shelter from the Santa Ana's. You've got the time, so why not. Watch for the windows and enjoy wherever you are. Regarding the comment about using pillows to keep your plates from sliding, Susan and I know that the rubber grommets on the bottom of those green plates will secure them in place (hah). Once again, thanks for taking us along on your adventure. We are indeed envious, and struggle to keep dry eyes when we see Bohemia under sail. Fair winds . . .

Hi Bill and Sue, thanks again for such a lovely message and encouragement. We need it, we are now half way down the Baja Peninsula in MX and are exhausted. The sail to Cabo is soooo much longer then we imagined! just been 3 days and 3 nights at sea and stopped at Bahia Asucion for rest and weather window. The green plates are perfect for the passages I agree, could not do without them. Do glad you guys are enjoying it and following along. PS. Talking about playing it safe...wait for episode 8 when everything goes wrong!! spoiler alert!! ha ha , Thanks , P & T

Another good video. I watch about 25 sailing KZbin channels and you've done some great work for such a new channel. I left Cat Harbor for San Diego at midnight last time I was anchored there to avoid a Santa Ana wind event. Did it ever kick up while you were in San Pedro? It is a finicky wind as sometimes one part of the LA coast gets hammered while an other just 5 -10 miles away doesn't.
@SailingBohemia3 жыл бұрын
Thanks, we had some wind in San Pedro but nothing terrible, then the smoke fire came and it was time to leave!

For more power, have you looked at a water turbine? I wonder if they would work at anchorage with the current or tides. Most people use them while sailing to recharge batteries.
@SailingBohemia4 жыл бұрын
Hi there! A water turbine would be useful for long passages, we hear when you're traveling 5 knots+ they come into their own! Something to consider for a long crossing to keep the autopilot purring! So far at anchor and underway here in Mexico the solar has been doing so well, more than covers our needs when all panels are working, would highly recommend!

I can't help but wonder if the issues you are seeing with your solar not keeping up are less caused by the season and more caused by the HouseKeeper's new video editing habit. Captain might want to put an amp meter on that one. You're a lot further south now and that should be in your favor. I would still think about separate MPPTs would be good.
@SailingBohemia4 жыл бұрын
now now Lisa!! it has nothing to do with my editing habit! I don't have a problem , I swear!! ha ha x
