Just wanted to say my first sailboat from San Diego bought it in Vancouver 34 ft no radar nor no radar reflector single engine Yanmar when coming around West Van close to Bowen Island at around midnight the wind died down very dark and I went to the bow a freighter from Squamish was coming directly in front close call. AIS, Radar is important never without them now. Also crossed the wake from a container ship that was steaming out from Vancouver saw it on my radar from 5 mile setting. The wake though it was one third of a mile when created by the ship when I crossed it in my 34 ft wooden fishing boat created such a shake hit it at a 45 degree angle only about 2-3 ft high the power in that small wave was tremendous in my heavy wooden. Take care.
