Johnny Morris is my HERO! He raised me as his own son and gave me the childhood of a lifetime. Literally the kindest, smartest, most patient man I've had the pleasure of knowing. Apparently, he was really good at football too....😆 That makes sense because he's always been extraordinary at everything, especially being a father. I think about him daily because he made me the man I am today. I would do anything for him, he's an Angel. I love you forever and always Dad!

Well, for most people he’s unknown. Bears fans know of him because he’s still the all time leading receiver all these years later for the franchise.

Johnny Morris was the guest speaker at our high school letterman’s banquets in May 1964. Our little h .s. Located in Santa Barbara county was so honored and impressed by this UCSB player and Chicago Bear’s NFL star. He was personable, humble and well spoken. He visited and talked with all who wanted to meet him ; which was everyone. The h. s . athletes and parents were awed by him.

Johnny Morris was one of my favorite players of those 60’s Bears. Down to earth and humble. He and his wife Jeannie were excellent reporters. I miss listening to him call a Bears game. Class act!!!!

Johnny is far too modest! He was incredibly fast. I'm not certain, but I believe when he was at UCSB he co-held the world record for the indoor 60 yard dash at 6.09. Yikes!

I grew up watching Johnny Morris. Not as a player really, a little before my time. He did color commentary for CBS on a lot of Bear games. He did a great job and you can actually watch many of these games on KZbin. The quality is pretty bad but it’s great to see Walter Payton and some great Bear defenses.

The Bears have many legends and Morris isn't even on the list. I'm a Bears fan and saw Morris play in Soldier Field and Wrigley. He was average at best.

Morris never played at soldier field. And I’ll take the word of guys who played with and against him over you any day. Maybe you saw #47 the great mike Spivey at soldier field 😂🤣😂🤣

@@edpinkerton7947 Is Mike Spivey related to Junior Spivey, the former D'Backs player? I think Junior wore No. 47?

"Average at best"!?? That is an _astoundingly_ stupid thing to say. The man _still_ to this day has the Bears single season record for receptions _and_ yardage! He also has the Bears career receiving yardage record _still_ all these years later. The year he caught 93 passes, he set an NFL record at the time. What axe are you grinding and why?

Morris retired after the 1967 season. Bears didn't play in Soldier Field until 1970. How can you _possibly_ be expected to be taken seriously!?!

Got to see Morris on the TV whenever the Bears were on, which was at least once per year when the 49ers were playing away at Wrigley, the telecast on KPIX San Francisco. There were some other Bear games that I saw during this era of the NFL, and remember in particular a Saturday late season game against the Packers, and seeing Morris catch a few. As I've checked, it was in 1964. My mom mentioned that she didn't understand why some of the Bears were wearing short sleeve jerseys, like Mike Ditka, as most had long sleeves. It was below freezing.
