Normally the sense I get from this song is along the lines of "I would gladly suffer in your place," but the visuals here turn it more into "I would cast you into the depths of hell with no hesitation if it frees me."

I got to the same interpretation as your first one, but apparently Kate Bush herself stated something else. ""It's saying if the man could be the woman and the woman the man, if they could make a deal with God, to change places, that they'd understand what it's like to be the other person and perhaps it would clear up misunderstandings. You know, all the little problems; there would be no problem."" quoted from an interview in 85. This video gives me heavy purgatory-vibes, and "running up that hill" along with the portal she sees of the two of them reminds me Sisyphus. So kind of like she's stuck JUST out of reach, after having made a deal for him to not suffer, and he's completely clueless (probably because he's so focused on his guitar).

Do any of you realize how absolutely wild it has been for someone who has loved this song for literal decades to suddenly find it *EVERYWHERE* ? I first found the song via placebo. I honestly liked both equally. The Placebo version I later saw in a really great AMV in 2006 based around the anime Kanon. It went from being "This is a good song" to "I'm keeping this with me forever" So to think that this song of all songs would suddenly explode back to popularity and spawn amazing covers such as this honestly boggles my mind. Thanks @RichaadEB and @annapantsu You both have been making good stuff for a while (Especially you Rich. Ever since I saw your cover of Bad apple with Christina Vee ((Oddly enough we used to be friends way way way back in 09)) I've been a fan. Anna, you've done some amazing covers, and I enjoyed your Sea Shanties.

This is the first cover that does what I've been doing with it--throwing a solo after the bridge (as it should be). Absolutely brilliant. Anna's voice on it is the best I've heard as well, does justice to Kate's original. I've heard a few dozen covers since Season 4 ended, and this one right here is the best version of the song I've heard since the live version with Gilmour on guitar and Franklin on bass. Even has the booming thunder-like drums. Bang on, mate. Bang on.
