Thank you sir, have you ever considered being a teacher in the fields of engineering? You explained in 30 minutes of free videos what my son who has spent two years in college for this BS degree and it still wraps his brain. You have gallantly simplified explaining the process, fully demonstrate the process, then gave a realistic everyday real world application. Once I have completed my off-grid homestead projects I hope to meet and greet you as I start chasing the wood gas trophy!

This technology though it's well over a hundred years old has been purposely buried along with other intellectual marvels that man has made because others want to keep the power, take your hard-earned money, and then further keep us under control. Take a look at hydrogen reactor builds

What about having a compressor and compressing the gases into a fuel tank on board the truck, like an lpg conversion? That way, you have the wood gasifier off the vehicle, saving weight and space in the pick up bed. Have your gas generation equipment on the farm so it could serve other vehicles.

That's a good question Chris, I'm working on that process currently. The best I have come up with is the use of multiple tanks with water and gas displacement between the two tanks to pressurize a third tank for storage or filling smaller tanks

The supply of trees is finite. And they consume soil nutrients and provide shade and wood for building, and fine workmanship and clean the air. IIRC Brazil only allowed gasogenios for buses because cars would have deforested the country. Although they did that anyway.

Why does the gasification apparatus need to be carried on the vehicle? Wouldn't it make more sense to make the gas first, store it and then fill a single gas tank on the vehicle, as usual?

Hydrogen gas doesn't store well for DIY - Need cryogenics, or special alloys just to keep it at pressure, due to hydrogen embrittlement of many materials.

Analton Morion Wood is not THE gas, as oil is not gasoline. Wood is the source material for Wood Gas, it's the name of the mixture of gasses made by thermal decompostion of the wood. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wood_gas . Chris Petts was asking why not process the wood into Wood Gas off the vehicle, and runt he vehicle on stored Wood Gas alone.

WiztotheIzzard look into Fischer tropsch process, My idea, Solar photo-bio reactor - >process waste water HyperCritical Solar Gasifier -> turns algae water into steam and H2 and CO Catalyst - depending on which one is used you make different fuels like diesel. So - Poo + water + sunshine = algae and clean water + focused sunshine (intense!) = Syngas - without any byproducts + catalyst = diesel Burn that diesel in a generator ? send the exhaust back to the bioreactor - they love Co2 :D

I did the math and found that a fat, dead cat will get a 5,000 pound pickup truck just over a mile. That is a tiny car running on a really fat cat to get 6-8 miles. The fat, dead cat would have to be the size of an 8 year old child to get you 6-8 miles. Also, 2000 degrees F is over 2 times as hot it should be to cause bio-fuel to undergo pyrolysis. You probably need more than a hay filter to filter out tar. I recommend fiberglass filters like the type in cigarettes. Finally, it would 10 percent more efficient if you just built a steam engine.
@waynekeith01
@waynekeith01 5 жыл бұрын
I think about 2700 degrees f is the temp that works best for gasification. I know of no filters that will filter tar , the trick is to have the temps to eliminate all the tars. The efficiency of the gasifier / internal combustion engine is about twice that of a steam engine . Test at Auburn University have shown 37% more efficient than gasoline

A dead cat should yield at least 10 miles, 15 with a favorable breeze. Afterall, a pound of wood gets him 1.3 miles he said and a dead cat is at least 10 lbs but their fat has a higher concentration of btu's than wood. So go on down to your local animal shelter today and scrounge through the dumpsters to recycle the cats they gassed, and then adopt all the live cats so they don't get gassed.

+Kevin Keel Not really. Natural gas is comparable to gasoline when it comes to miles per gallon and it burns cleaner than gasoline, but performance/power is less on natural gas than gasoline. If Mr. Keith routed part of his exhaust gasses from one of the cylinders and a small degree of moisture to go with the air used to gasify his wood scraps via the bourdouard reaction, he'd have an efficiency increase to some extent and have even cleaner emissions than he already does. THAT is if he can keep the mixture Ideal in the gasifier and the truck. Sometimes, you can get an increase in efficiency but a reduction in power can come into play. Various circumstances and many factors come into play on that though.
