What abou following a longer program 3-4 months, where you get VO2 max and all thoes thinges messerured before and after. Then make a short follow every week, about the week, and next weeks program. Toward a fast 1/2 marathon!
@rogerbergua62683 жыл бұрын
It seems that most of the training was done at or below the ventilatory threshold (low intensity runs), with some work outs getting into the lactate threshold (aka tempo/threshold run). It seems to follow the 80% low intensity, 20% moderate/high intensity distribution that has been giving so many good results to recreational and elite runners. Way to go!

Would you say that this can replace all those online workout plans I’ve been following. If so I’ll just add some speedwork in
@rogerbergua62682 жыл бұрын
I like to keep it simple. In my opinion, there is no need to overcomplicate things. The 80% low intensity, 20% moderate/high intensity works. The 80% builds up the aerobic base (your engine) and the 20% is used to tune the engine to perform when it's necessary. Similar approaches are used in other sports with very good results (e.g., cycling). I hope that helps!

@@rebecca4508 that's strange, I have a Garmin 245 myself but I don't really use suggested workouts. Just a tip, if you have a chest strap do guided Lactate Threshold run and the Garmin watch will get your LT heart rate and pace. They set your HR zones based on LTHR and have the watch base your daily workouts on HR instead of pace. Works really well, I had never tried running in zone 2 and since I got my Epix my running has become much more sustainable in terms of fatigue.

Agreed. There is so much capability buried within my watch that I am not using. I have had to turn off many of it's "features" because I found some of them demotivating and also that I cannot really work out what the benchmark is. For instance, when it says your fitness age is ... (mine is apparently ten years younger than my actual age) what is this comparing against? Also, the blood oxygen measurement always read low against my finger monitor that I have so that has been permanently disabled too. And hr: I find that without the chest strap the hr reading are erratic and inconsistent when running. I always run with a chest strap now. It would be good to have content showing step by step how to use lots of these metrics for best effect but also how to do things such as putting plotted courses into the watch for navigation when out in unfamiliar places. A mini series of how to use your Garmin to best effect perhaps? As channel sponsors I am pretty sure that Garmin would like numpties like myself to get more out of our devices, no? 🙂

My watch tells me to run easy every day or rest almost every day 🤣 I’m a 7:00 pace marathoner and my mileage is about 50-60 mpw and my watch wants me to run like, 30 miles, if I did everything it told me to do.
@wafelsen3 жыл бұрын
The first week it told her to rest more, but after that there was a more reasonable amount of rest/recovery days. So maybe if you listened for a week or more it would put you in a good pattern.

Love this video! The reason for me to watch it was that I consider this training suggestion from Garmin being one of the annoying one's. Actually one of the first things I always do when I got a new Garmin watch (happens once every several years) - I look how I can cancel this annoying thing that tells me what to do before every workout. You are actually the first person I saw that actually have used it and most of all - even benefit from it. Cool! You just get yourself a new subscriber.

I live in a really hilly city, and my pace will vary so much depending on where I turn. I can do a nice quick 5km along the river, but be walking up the hills nearly dieing. This has given me a great option that I didn't know my watch could do. I frequently get frustrated with running plans that are distance only because of this!

This makes me realise how insanely heart rate can vary. I hit the highest HR ive had in my life at the end of a half marathon entirely up a mountain and my second highest finishing off a 10K race, and neither of them even come close to that threshold/175 thing you got lol

Why is there a blur square in the middle of the video? it looks like it has been added by KZbin bot.
@StevenFreitag2 жыл бұрын
@@damFr I suspect that the editor put the block in and motion tracked it to blur out a license plate or street name, but then just forgot to make a cut, leaving the blurred block to try and motion track itself all the way through the video!

Yip. I’m one of those people who when I start any kind of exercise, no matter how light, my hate rate shoots up. Not sure if it’s my fitness that’s the issue or the Garmin but I’m gonna use a chest HR monitor as well to see. Hope your training is going well

This was one of the best videos yet. Really really interesting. Full of detail and helpful information. That watch sounds super appealing, as for someone like myself who is still trying to understand all the different ways and means of running, it’s easy to get lost in it all and just run your usual pace. Brilliant!

For some reason, there's a rectangular blur that covers Sarah's face at multiple spots throughout the vid. (10.47, 15.31, etc). Is anyone else getting that? Doesn't affect the audio. It's like an auto-censor gone wrong.

What a lovely video, really enjoyed it! I was wondering if you noticed any difference between the HR target and the pace targets? My forerunner 745 is suggesting me that I should do a base run at either 6:15min/km or 140bpm. However if I try to run that fast my HR will be well over 160... I've only had the watch for a month so maybe it has my VO2max estimate too high since it started at 49 and is now down to 47.

inspirational! Thank you Sarah. Just did the daily suggestion for the first time. Going to ( for the most part ) be doing the same for the near future to see if it is better than my own planning.
