"they have to average 68 seconds per lap or 2:50 per km.. That's a very tall task." This really kind of puts eliud kipchoge's 1:59:40 marathon in perspective, doesn't it? 2:50/km was just about what he ran for the entire marathon... All the athletes in this video are obviously incredible and fitter than any of us are ever likely to be... And kipchoge ran the same pace for 8x longer... Wow.

If you reach the last 300 m with Obiri by your shoulder you stand no chance. I think the best way to beat Obiri is do what Sifan Hassan did at the World Championships in Doha. Hit an obliterating pace and shake Obiri off early. But then again that's easy in the 10k, but not so easy in the 5000 m as Ayana learnt in that epic World Championship race in London. Still one of my favourite races ever. A real lesson to never give up.
@lordaries54984 жыл бұрын
That's very true. If Obiri is by your shoulder in the last 300/400m, you will not win that race. I feel like her form last year wasn't the best. The way she ran that cross country race took a lot from her. That's why she was very inconsistent. She said she wasn't mentally and tactically ready to race a 10,000m race but her coach told her to give it a try. She wants to work on it and come back stronger in the coming Olympics. Tokyo will be wonderful. Can't wait

Not really when Hassan is running.
@Biobele4 жыл бұрын
@@99cachorro Hassan has European hype that's all if any of those Kenyan girls switched nationality to any European nation the media would sell them as hot cake, they'd be just as hyped if not more hyped by the media but because they are Africans representing Africa no media hype nothing. case in view the Kenyan athlete representing U.k in long distance running Mo farah vs. the god of long distance running Kipchoge. The British media makes it seem as if Mo Farrah is the greatest long distance runner ever whereas Kipchoge has broken all the records. If Mo farah had run for kenya do you think he'd be this famous? Do you think he'd even make the Kenyan team 100% of the time like he made the British team? I have learnt to tell the difference between western media hype or middle East propaganda from facts That's why you think so highly of Hassan but compared to Obiri we all know Obiri is better and on a good day ANY of those Kenyan athletes can beat Hassan it has happened several times. Look how the commentators kept making excuses for Hassan she ran months ago so that's why she isn't first where as this is Obiri's first race = if Hassan was running for her real country, the country she was born in and the country her parents hail from Ethiopia do you think they'd make all those excuses for her? Assume Obiri was the Dutch runner you'd have heard the commentators say = "despite being out for so long she comes back and wins in such a packed talented field, and despite having lots of practice and breaking records just months ago Hassan of Ethiopia is beaten by the wonderful American Obiri who has come back to take her rightful place on the track" think about it.

Good idea for who? Hassan can slow down and also go to her shoulder. Obiri will lead at a slow pace wait for her to get fed up and make a move then race her to the finishing line. And you can't sprint better than Obiri. and Kipyegon too, she's a sprinter
