@@rayre3617 IT is something we learnt in school; SWOT analysis Ayana's strength is endurance. She las lots of it. Her weakness is speed. She has no kick. That is why she did what she did.........try to run away from Obiri. It didn't work. Obiri's strength is also endurance but she doesn't have as much endurance as Ayana. PErhaps she does, but she has no world record. HEr greatest strength is speed. She takes it out like no one else can. She's in the class of Tirunesh Dibaba, Meseret dEfar, Vivian Cheruiyot and FAith Kipyegon in speed and sprinting. She knew that if she'd be only within five meters of Ayana, she'd take it because she (Obiri) has an awesome kick and Ayana doesn't. With two laps to go , Obiri tested her and she resisted leaving Obiri with no option but to take off with 300m to go.

Correction for the commentators .......We Kenyan’s 🇰🇪 have no rivalry with Ethiopians 🇪🇹 we are best of Neighbour’s with much respect for one another.........What matters is one of us wins period.......whether Kenyan 🇰🇪 or Ethiopian 🇪🇹 or Ugandan 🇺🇬. Rivalry is a Western ideology.........You come and watch the World Cup in any bar in any African country & see the reaction when any African country looses we all mourn from South Africa to Nigeria to Kenya,....yet maybe it was Senegal playing against Turkey you may even think the whole continent is called Senegal

@Modern Space, There is great rivalry.......and yes, I am Kenyan......from Nyahururu. I think what you are talking about is enmity which is never appropriate and no, there is no enmity between Kenya and Ethiopia or any of its neighbours. There is great rivalry all the same which is healthy. I also say that if a Kenyan can't take it, Ethiopia should and of late, our Ugandan neighbours who are coming up very well. Our rivalry dates back to the 1980s when both of us......Ethiopia and Kenya became great at what we do. it is healthy and because of that, each country has been better because of the other. Haile wouldn't have broken some of his records without Kenya and Kenya wouldn't have broken some of the records without Ethiopia. Haile Gebrsellasie and Daniel Komen in the '90s raced each other insanely and in the process, broke the 3k and 5k world records. Morocco was also in the mix but Morocco died. R.I.P. Morocco. Long live East Africa!

No, Ayana is similar to Letesenbet Gidey, if she fails to create a sufficient lead, she has no chance in the sprint with the others. Ayana was well aware of this weakness, as was Obiri, which was a psychological advantage for Obiri. In addition, in 2017 Ayana had an injury that recovered a week before this race in a 10,000m victory. The injury marked the end of her career. Obiri is an original nice lady, I wish her that
