The #plot of the myths is still studied and admired by the minds of the #philosophical world. Let's make an effort to combine logic with myth and at the end of the journey maybe something more would be understood, something new would be felt.
We are at the southern tip of the land of the #Centaurs. Everything here looks more like an island than a land destination. #Chiron, perhaps the most important of the Centaurs, was the son of Saturn. He was gentle, prudent, fair and charismatic. He knew the art of healing with mountain #herbs and could even practice surgery. Next to him, generations of #ancient heroes studied the secrets of life, in the honored lands of Pelion.
Salt and rocks, sky and sea. White dominates everywhere and the view is breathtaking. Trikeri lays today one hour and 50 minutes south of #Volos, the capital of #Magnesia province. Until the 1970s there was no land route and #transportation was made only by sea. This is why this area is so reminiscent of an island. The inhabitants were fishermen, spongers and daring captains. Their ornate mansions are preserved to this day and dominate the narrow cobbled streets of the village.
A densely built settlement at the top of the ancient Cape Aiantion, to the right of the entrance of the #Pagasitic Gulf, stands as a vigilant observer of natural phenomena, human interventions and a custodian of the ancient myths.
The modern history of the village begins in the middle of the 18th century. A great example of the grandeur and the old nobility are the churches with the wood-carved iconostasis, the tower houses of the captains and the sense of awe that the visitor feels.
Agia #Kyriaki, located just below Trikeri, is the port of the settlement and has a fleet of all kinds of vessels and fishing boats. In this so picturesque place, the traditions are still alive in the daily life of the inhabitants and all the delicacies are delicuous. Explore the traditional path that connects the mountain village with its port.
Nearby, the lighthouse stands proudly marking the sky, as Chiron marks the stars with his bow. You can reach it through a wonderful #hiking #trail and then enjoy an unforgettable #swim in crystal clear waters!
The islet of Paleo Trikeri is a little known hidden paradise in Greece. A magnificent historic monastery that looks like a #castle, a colorful picturesque harbor, lacy shores, lush landscape, untouched nature… What more could one ask for?
The end of Chiron is mythologically tragic and is described as an accidental wound by an arrow of #Hercules that was poisoned. He was dragged to his cave in terrible pain but because he was immortal he could not die. He then asked Prometheus to exchange his mortal life for his own immortality. With the consent of Zeus, #Prometheus became immortal and Chiron found peace.
The Centaurs died and bequeathed their passions to us. Everyone is free to choose his own way of life. After all, our choices determine our fate.
On this trip you will feel the certainty that some of the myths remain alive and have a reason to exist.
The energy of this land and the images that are imprinted in the heart and mind of the visitor, fill the batteries, and help to leave behind all the stress, sorrow and thoughts.
The land of Pelion will reward you richly. #Paradise has a name and is located in Greece!
