Every year generative AI video gets significantly better. Almost all AI video has tells today but probably by this time next year we'll be seeing videos that are indiscernible from actual video. Now we just need local generation abilities because even 5 cents per second adds up when you have to run a prompt 10 or 20 times to get close to what you requested. We'll get there.

I've tested Minimax vs Kling and let me tell you hands down Kling is better and way less censorship. Minimax censors way too many things and I've had images blocked on minimax but when used on Kling works perfectly! Kling is the still the KING.

I couldn't even get into Kling. It has some type of puzzle human verification but none of my browsers allow me to drag the piece around. Vidu is also good and takes images that Minimax won't. I think Vidu prevents anything from being exposed during the video creation where as Minimax generates the video and if it finds something slipped out it blocks the video.

The censorship is insane. I generally use Midjourney for ref images to bring into Runway, Luma, or Kling (and now Minimax!) and, because I make genre AI films (Horror, Sci-Fi, Fantasy), I can't do even a fraction of what I want! I don't do nudity and only need R-rated violence, but I am constantly having my prompts blocked on MJ and Runway (sometimes Kling) for even mild stuff. These tech companies need to get their heads out of their asses, because they are really hampering AI filmmaking!

Helpful! In my experience so far Minimax can do more complex physical movements than the others. With Runway it's the unlimited plan or nothing, really. But it you have the unlimited you can use it as a workhorse, and you have all the advanced lip syncing options. Kling's lip-syncing is more realistic than Runway by a good deal, but Runway has more control (such as designating multiple speakers in the same scene). You have been able to put yourself in scenes with MJ for months using crefs, but cool to see how to do it with Flux. Also, doing one render per each AI leaves a lot up to chance. Probably better to do at least a few for each. Very often the same prompt will give a much better result a second or third try. Also, for fast paced action Vidu is still the best. My favorite all around is Kling.

Funny how the AI programmers aren't able to just SUBTRACT part of the burger from the area that was covered by the lips and subtract it as soon as the lips begin to retract back away from it. I remember first using runway and I wanted my hero flying. i tried every prompt, and just got rubbish that cost a fortune. i tried the prompt, 'flying like superman", to which i got a firm message accusing me of illegal behavior and a threat to ban me for life. As for censorship: I think we draw the line at the same place as our laws draw the line. No kid stuff. As for the rest, we should be able to create what we want. Adult sites in Texas now require an adult check so do the same if we want to produce adult content. Runway also has that other issue, in that their TOS gives them an irrevocable royalty free license to your content, which they can sublicense. So if you upload your face, they can sublicense your face to others. Luma has the same clause.

AI's main struggle is to create change during the clip. It's good at creating still images or looping video, but simple things like dropping an item to the ground seems very difficult to do. Not impossible but takes easily 20 prompts and wastes your money

You could do with making a mini-update on the Replicate process as it's changed slightly since when I first used it three days ago. I have been creating models fine since your video. But now, when uploading new images to create a new model, I not only have to specify the quality of the cloud computer, but also whether I want to create a Custom Cog image, or a flux model, or a llama model. I just want to create realistic pictures of myself to then animate in Minimax, like I've been doing! (PS. I've worked it out: you can check out the pricing model and decide which computer to use - it defaulted to the A100 when I had my free trial, so I'm using it again as it worked a treat) (I have chosen flux model as the cog model wanted me to do something unfamiliar)

I entered a test prompt. It tells me expected wait time is 26 minutes (started with 25, then went to 24, now is 26).Their unlimited fast package is same price as Runway. Runway package also includes lip syncing, narration and other tools (they also have a video editor for anyone who needs it). As for censorship, I would make the source images elsewhere anyway. Runway does have issues with making action scenes, though ...they even blocked a generation where the character in source image had some scratches on face. But "buxom" source images are not a problem. Asking that from Midjourney is tougher, but instead of blocked keywords, you could just enter a famous character who matches the look you're after. And sometimes keywords can go through if you move them around or edit other aspects of the prompt. Not an issue with Stable Diffusion, but their images look too much like real photos and the style is not as interesting.

@@JoshB.Podcast I think Kling has the highest resolution, Runway has the best price if you're going to use tons of generations (image to video can get good detail in Alpha mode, not as good in Alpha turbo). Minimax I don't think has that good level of detail, but it may get better character consistency in complex scenes. I went with Runway ...if you've got a good budget then Kling might be better and maybe supplement with some Minimax generations. Oh and *Runway Gen 3 can now also do video to video* ...so could make something in minimax and drop it over to Runway ...or use your own recordings.

We should be allowed to do whatever we can do with a real camera, as long as the final output is private. When you buy a camera, it doesn’t say what things you can and can’t shoot. For example-le, if you prompt “a shadowy naked woman, with her body cover in full by shadows”, where’s the nudity? However you can’t render this prompt anywhere. If you add “black bikini”, then it goes through, and the result is the same, so it makes no sense. In my opinion this mess is all because there are no real filmmakers behind this apps, only coders and rookie artists. Perhaps Jim Cameron’s involvement in the AI world could leave to bend the rules. The famous scene of Jamie Lee Curtis dancing in True Lies, in shadows, would be impossible to render with the censorship of these apps/

Iv used the paid version of runway and normal version of minimax for image to videos. My overall impression, runway (gen 3 alpha) is still better than minimax. But minimax is not far away either. One thing I noticed, mm has less morphing issues (on first prompt). sucks minimax don’t give the reuse of prompt facility like runway. And hopefully mini comes with a 10 sec possibility.

1) runway gen 3 alpha. ( best one yet on the market but so expensive) 2) minimax. second best one, just need at least 10 seconds and make the dashboard a bit more dynamic 3) luma. Not great, still in the past versions. Most of their animations are just zooms! 5) Kling. Next year when my prompt is finally generated I’ll probably get to see the result if its not cancelled mid way.

I don't know about expensive. Other tools run on credits. Some guy apparently spent around $750 credits on Kling to make a 3 minute video. Minimax unlimited package seems to be same price as Runway unlimited ($95). As for Minimax free trial, I am still waiting to see what it does: "There are still 5,771 people ahead, expected to wait for 19 minutes".

I do see the need for limitations when it involves children and such but, when even AI gets flagged by it;s iwn system there is an issue.

Runway's censorship is ridiculous sometimes. I guess it wants to be a strictly PG platform. I do action content of a generally PG-13 nature and it flags my prompts all the time. Very prudish.
