This isn't really much of a secret anymore, but Dave was never supposed to be on this episode. Basically, for how did Roxxxy's guy get on, it was an open casting call for former military veterans who were homosexual for a reality TV gig, none of them knew they were going to be on Drag Race until later. Dave applied, but was told he was WAY too old for what they were looking for (they wanted all the vets to be around the same age). However, the 5th original veteran pulled out at the last minute, so the day of production they called Dave (and likely a bunch of others too) and asked if he was still interested. Dave has said he only wanted to be on the show in the first place because he wanted to talk about the struggles older veterans faced being queer after service, he really never planned on enjoying himself on the show as much as he did. That was all because Jinkx was so patient and fun with him.

This season was full of absolutely iconic queens, yet the campiest thing that has EVER been said on the show came from an unassuming older veteran named Dave. Killing Judy Garland is the apex of gay drama.

Obviously #IKilledJudyGarland is amazing, but I do genuinely feel bad for Dave, who has carried this serious guilt with him for DECADES! That's part of what made Jinkx's shoutout to Dave on All Stars kind of heartwarming; it was almost like Jinkx was trying to give Dave some form of posthumous closure in a very sweet, yet hilarious way!

Hard disagree. It’s always been a huge part of their editing style. I think it’s just more noticeable in shorter videos, because there is less content overall. To each their own.
