Rupert Bear is one of the all-time favourite shapes ever to grace the skies of England. Rupert enjoyed many flights across the city until 1995, brightening up the sky for thousands of people. Unfortunately, nowadays it’s not in the best condition.
Despite this, quite amazingly, for the 100th anniversary of Rupert, celebrated by the Followers of Rupert (the official Rupert appreciation society), we could see a balloon of red and yellow in colour above the field of Mount Kelly College in Tavistock, Devon after twenty-five years in storage. Though it is old and a little battered, the owner and pilot assembled his crew and it happened - the balloon was inflated, for one last time. What a fantastic sight it was!
