Playing this song in my backyard when the older couple next door were outside and started singing the chorus so I looked over the fence to see them dancing and the guy said it was their first dance at their wedding and I thought it was so sweet ❤

This was radio hit during our Honeymoon in 1979. We were in Destin Florida so of course we had Pina Coladas. Every time we’d hear it years later we were right back on our Honeymoon. Lost my wife to cancer last July. Now when I hear this I just cry.

The UK is an island country in northwest Europe that's made up of mainland Great Britain (England, Wales, and Scotland) and Northern Ireland. The UK's capital is London. Hope that narrows it down a bit. North East Atlantic on a map, just off the coast of Europe. Why did it age well? You literally mean the song is still good, or is there something about yoga that my uninformed self missed?

Who would have thought that those adidas Spezial shoes are still in fashion after 41 years. :-) I have two pair and still love to wear them. Wow, Rupert Holmes was quite the song writer. I really miss those years.

In my opinion 1970s retro fashions, sportswear, Adidas etc can never go out of fashion. Apart from goofy flat peaked baseball caps...

Rupert Holmes was on Gilbert Gottfried's podcast a few years ago and said that when he was working out the lyrics, he originally had it as "if you like Humphrey Bogart and getting caught in the rain" and decided against it because he was making too many movie references in prior songs.

F’n genius lyrics, thanks Holmes. Song will live forever. My first memory 1976 , 16 yo Navy brat living on Sigsby Island Key West with my mom going to get groceries at the commissary. KW was paradise and your song enhanced that 1000 % . God bless.

While we all love the chorus and it’s one of the most memorable. We don’t give enough credit to the verses about them both being jaded and looking to have an affair; but they are able to laugh it off and reconnect. True love.
