As we are spending some more time in the blessed house of the Prophet ﷺ, let’s remember his second daughter Ruqayya.
Even though we don’t have a lot of information about her, we can definitely say that she lived a blessed but a life filled with tests.
She was married to Abu Lahab’s son, and then forcefully divorced from her first husband because of pressure imposed by her father in law. Afterwards, Allah ﷻ replaced him with a better husband for her, Uthman ibn Affaan, may Allah be pleased with him.
The most interesting story about Ruqayyah is that she migrated twice to Abyssinia, and from Abyssinia to Mecca with her husband.
Another test that she went through was that while she was in Abyssinia, she lost her son Abdullah who passed away when he was only two.
After moving to Madinah with her husband, she passed away two years after the Hijra, during the battle of Badr. Unfortunately, because he ﷺ was occupied with the battle and his responsibilities in it, the Prophet ﷺ was not able to attend her janazah.
