Things that lean me away from the new world talk is the fact all of this technology is very easily transferable to the old world, the five fleets literally introduce slingers to old hunters before the Fatalis hunt. Furthermore Olivia is said to be from the new world, so either she was born there or was part of the five original fleets and now she’s being called in to help explore the Forbidden Lands. Her website page has the sapphire star emblem in it so she has some kind of ties to the new world. Furthermore the name Forbidden Lands doesn’t really make sense in the context of the new world because none of it would be sacred or cursed ground, just new land to explore further north.

Also the ruins of a civilization is one thing thats been present only in the old world. Still, If the new world exploration mimics our real world (Its pretty much a paralelism with America), this could be signs that the new world had its own old civilization and we are meeting the natives (or more like whats left of them) of the new world.

​@@ChamadzeroThis is personally what i believe as well. Consider the fact that each game has an indeterminable amount of time pass so 50 years could have passed, we really don't know. That and our knowledge of the new world is so limited so it wouldn't surprise me if there was more remote lands that were inhabited and we just didn't know. It happens in real life where we'll either find an entire civilization lost to time save for a few ruins or we'll encounter isolated tribes who don't want contact.

The new grounds further north were forbidden by the guild though. It could be that Nada was found over there warranting an investigation to see if there really are people in the New World where we then find ruins and elements of a civilization further into the continent, unable to go to where we are when we play in World.

Pretty sure in one of the trailers it’s mentioned that we’ll be hunting in the forbidden lands. Another thing to note is that the Fifth fleet were sailing to the new world with slingers which means they got them from the mainland. The second fleet likely sent the prints to the mainland to be mass produced.

I think MH Wilds setting is not in the New World but in Fonron. Reasons: - It's forbidden region and Fonron area is effectively one. - Arkveld is very heavily Frontier influenced. - There's seems to be emphasis on lost ancient civilization and Fonron tower is very much the ancient civilization place. - There's human settlement! We know for a fact that the fleet is the only human ever touched new world besides wyvernian. Regarding why there's a lot of World influence in Wild canonically wise, it was actually explained by the Fatalis story in Iceborne. Where the Guild General visit New World to do both ask hunter help slays Fatalis but also do research exchange with new world techs. In fact, in the cutscene in the ship right before we face Fatalis, we see old world researcher learns about slinger. So it's not a stretch then that those techs ends up in old world as well. Now the reason why Wild in New World doesn't make sense: - The fleets is the first human to land there. And with the fact that Ace Hunter with us in World but we got older Ace Lancer in Wild, suggest that world and wilds is not a lifetime apart. Not enough for a new settlement with new culture to arise there (kunafa village).

We never knew wether or not civilisations were in the new world, all we know is the guild had no presence or knowledge of the land prior to barely getting a foothold there until we showed up. Not to mention the First Wyverians, those old dudes are native to the new world which already confirms there is a humanoid presence there. Add to the fact we we've only explored part of that entire continent means there could be civilisations/people elsewhere. Furthermore, so far in Wilds of the villagers we've seen appear to have no hunting culture whatsoever, from ehat they wear to what they eat, to what they live in. The New World is the only place the guild & our hunting culture had no presence at all, which in the old world, or even where Frontier is set, is precisely the opposite.

@@Cap_The_Captain well the main issue is that the guild has knowledge / jurisdiction over this land, it being forbidden means they know about it. There’s also the fact that the kid knew what hunters were (though that alone doesn’t rule out Wilds being in the new world, cause like, we hunted there; word could have spread). It would be a bit weird though for the guild to send in the New World expedition team that exists to explore the new world only to then forbid/halt all further exploration. Makes a bit more sense for them to forbid a land in the old world that’s just notorious for too many monsters and deemed ‘uninhabitable’. Either way, we’ll find out. Maybe one of these journalists can ask the team at some point.

The New World is a place heavily connected with Elder Dragons, which is something we've been deliberately told is not the case in Wilds. We've also been told that MHWilds won't have any connections to World.

The part of the new world we've explored, but specifically the elders recess are connected to elder dragons. The bioenergy flow goes out from there. Eldercrossing is a seasonal event in the lore. But you can see in the command post of seliana, that we do not have explored everything. The map on the table, even wenn adding the "new found" hoarfrost reach is half white spot. The continent of the new world is still pretty much unexplored.

One of the biggest things about the New World is the Elders Crossing. I also have a theory on the balloons and it makes sense in universe. The third fleet was tasked to manufacture the balloons and the ship itself is separate from that process as there was a fleet that came in during the 1st arrivers, but due to the difficulties of travel, many were damaged beyond repair and were dismantled for other uses, such as for Astera. Not to mention they were severely lacking recourses to produce the materials for flight, so the 3rd fleet went seeking to find key resources and ended up crashing, which halted their efforts. When we arrive, we get everything rolling and the 3rd fleet is able to recreate more balloons, which is why their logo is on them.

I don't agree with this line of reasoning. First, obviously, Wilds is attempting to remind the gaming public of World. IMO pointing to stuff like the logo means absolutely nothing except that fact, *Wilds is trying to feel like World.* It's not proof where the game takes place. More importantly, I think this does come down to disputes over what "New World" exactly means. *IMO, the New World is pretty much only what we saw in World/Iceborne,* a specific uninhabited continent that was linked to the Elder Crossing and a 50 year investigation. I don't think it would make sense to call other continents part of the "new world" even if they were in the same vague direction as World's continent, nor do I think it would make sense to retcon more landmasses near the New World. Some miscellaneous points: -The Slinger was formally introduced to Old World hunters with the Fatalis hunt and World in general has kinda hinted that New World techniques might be adopted by the wider Guild. There was similar NPC dialogue in Rise hinting at this for Palamutes, so if I saw Palamutes in a future MH game, I wouldn't assume it was taking place near Kamura -I still gotta doubt the airship intentionally being identical. We aren't sure exactly the role it will play, but seemingly the ship you initially ride into the Forbidden Lands on will be a sandship instead, so it's very possible it's just asset reuse for a ship that doesn't have a serious role in the story. Even if it is the same ship and it's a World cameo, it's a ship that can go all over the place, so it's still not great proof. -There are humans living in the Forbidden Lands & ancient civilisation ruins, which would be a huge change from what we've known about the New World beforehand. I say all this with the full knowledge that Capcom *could* declare the Forbidden Lands to be "part of the new world" to double down on more World nostalgia like I mentioned they are leaning into. I'd personally like it if Capcom were more specific about the MH world's geography, but so far they've stuck to being vague and there's no clear indication they intend to change yet.

I am leaning more towards it taking place in Fonron. The continent that is largely unexplored and full of ruins. The tower from previous games is located there for example. The ships might be expedition ships from the guild. Now that the mystery of the elder crossing is explained they send their expedition teams to another place. Basically a first fleet to the new area.

I had very similar feeling that Wilds is highly likely taking place in the New World and all the evidence pointed towards the conclusion of a direct sequel to World, but from a Chinese game media Gamersky's interview with the developers, the 'New World' concept only serves the MHWorld, and clarified that the new entry is not set in the New World same as MHWorld, but the devs are also not so sure whether we could say that the Forbidden Lands is set in the 'Old World' (so maybe a 'new' New World?). In terms of timeline, devs hinted that Wilds took place some time alongside World timeline. I'll link the URL in the reply if KZbin still allows link to outside websites

That armor doesn't originate from World, it's the armor of the Dundorma Guards and is generally tied to guild business. Since Fabio is a Guild leader he probably has bodyguards/troops under his command that wear that same armor. The General from Iceborne also had some

On topics of locations, There is one set piece that I personally would find very interesting if Capcom ever wanted to include this, and that would be a Monster Hunter Game, but one of the villages you stumbled upon was a "Rider" villages and you got to learn about rider life from a main monster hunter title. It's supposed to take place in the fonron continent isn't it? Obviously the forbidden lands can't be a new landmass since we don't get there through water but rather by crossing the desert. A desert, in fact, that extrends from a forest that could be the great forest in fonron, origin home of Nargacuga. In fonron everything is mysterious, unknown and we have the fact that it is indeed kinda forbidden to explore. It has this ancient ruins, like the Tower, that could correspond to the architechture seen already in Wilds.

The funny thing is that we've been seeing so many 'familiar looking' characters yet they are linked to older titles. Ragegaming made a video quite some time ago where the main source is actually the map in the command post of seliana. The map has a huge white spot that shows we didn't see half of the new world yet. Also we got some story bits in the wilds trailers that show, that the expedition thought the forbidden land was uninhabitated.

Zero chance it's in the New World, there are Hunter's coins that can be found in the enviornment during the demos we've seen which are only from the old generations of hunters. Also there's been direct mentions of ancient ruins, hinting towards remnants of the Wyverians ancient society before it was destroyed in the Dragon War against the monsters, which only occured in the Old World. Then there's the fact that there's been zero mention of the New World besides the sapphire star symbol on Capcom's web page for Olivia, but that probably just means she's from the New World since all of the Elder Crossing and Everwyrm stories were concluded there and she just moved to the Old World. Most likely the game takes place in the majorly unexplored continent of Fonron that is known to be full of ancient ruins and unknown monsters. My theory is Wilds is deep in Fonron and an ancient Wyverian technology/monster is the big bad once we learn what was chaining up Ark Veld, which is probably "The Keepers" that Nata came from.

Another piece of evidence in favor of New World is that the New World and its surrounding seas are known to have very fierce and unpredictable weather. New World was known to exist but they couldn't travel there until seafaring improved and the First Fleet finally made it Wilds is full of crazy weather phenomenons so that would line up nicely. I've assumed Wilds would be in the new world just because World was sort of a soft reboot of the series with the whole new world for World. Rise was an homage to the older games with the Japanese style setting and some older mechanics, maps, monsters, and content. That was to bring the new players from World back to experience some older MH content in Rise. Wilds is the undeniable successor to World and it only makes sense that they would continue the story in the new world.

Same Design Team, same Game Assets, same Local; Checks out to me. Even if its not directly "Adjacent" to the events of MHW Its likely part of the same "Ecosystem" or "Landmass". I'm personally not aware of what the extended MH universe looks like, but its pretty safe to assume that if the events of MHW took place across a big body of water, then the hunters of Wilds are part of the exploration team ahead of the fleet teams. Just the fact that every team is equipped with its own armorer means they are expecting to be isolated for a long time.

I actually thought it was in the new world aswell, but after the trailers have been coming out i started to think it could actually be the old world, just with new techs like the slinger taken from the new world. Might just be copium but seeing Yian kut ku and Congalala made me think we could actually be exploring some misterious lands of the old world, and the flagship looks frontier ish aswell. Would be really cool if they really remade the tower this time, but i mean the actual map in dos. We will see, but i wouldn't be mad if we were in gen1/2 areas. Like imagine the snowy mountains remade with this graphics and the weather system aswell.

I think it’s very possible that the game could be set in the new world. Especially with the air ship cutscene that you showed. But I’m just as convinced that it could be set somewhere in the old world. We saw at the beginning of World that the hunters were bringing the ships and slingers from the old world. So we know that they shared the slinger technology to the old world. It is possible that they also shared a working and tested idea on how to convert a sea ship into an air ship. But if they are in the new world. The big question is what was Fabius doing all the way out there 🤔 Maybe he heard of the new world and fancied a sight seeing holiday 😄

World is all about the new world and supposedly the people of MH have never been to the new world and they're just discovering it no reason for anywhere to be forbidden in that case. They must be called "forbidden" for a reason it entails that people have been there before. As well as one of the trailers dialogue states "we used to think the forbidden lands were uninhabited." Again implying they've known about them for a long time which really only means they are in the old world.

Some notes on the Color and graphic design on the Logo, as a graphic designer and Comic book colorist: You want to set expectation when designing the usage of a color or a Logo. So having the Logo matching in style to Monster Hunter World is a indicator of similarity between the games, not exacly story telling, but Ruri is right to analise the logos for thise kinds of expectations. Also, notes the usage of the colors in 4:43 MHW circles around the myth if the Saphire Star but the logo of the Game is not saphire blue, it's green. Also, notice how the Design on the Twin dragons in the logo for Wilds have one be of Natural design and "White" (Green Dragon) and one of Mechanical design and "Black" (Yellow Dragon). The Twin dragons in the logo also mirror the capital W in "Wilds" resembling double V instead of a single modern looking W. Also the W is offset from the other letters. They want you to notice it. Also, the logo resembles a lot a Final Fantasy Game logo. Their Logos are ubiquitous in the industry and making that reference in the logo is very important. What do I get from this: 1- The game is going to have another ??? Wyvern that mirrors Arkveld 2- We probably are going to have some investigation about some past advanced civilization 3- This game is going to focus HEAVILY on story My Guess is that the Leader of this expedition is Our Hunter from World 50 years older. We are either in a secluded part of the New World or a Place close to and thats why our teams are the ones that were assigned for this expedition. Plus, If this is a MHW sequel it makes sense that after 50 years the Design of the Armour sets and Weapons get Mordenized.

The leader of this expedition is technically our current hunter. The commander is Fabius, who is a high-ranked member of the Guild and also one of the original Ace Hunters (Ace Lancer).

Huh, it **is** the exact same ship except for the emblem on top of the balloon itself. Other identical features are the large curved bone on the stern above the rudder (which also looks identical). The blue trim along the top portion of the hull just under where the railings are. The C-shaped symbols adorning the triangular sail. The bone 'spine' on the keel and the 'ribcage' portions toward the bow and stern. The position of the fasteners for the climbable rigging that goes up to the masts. The shape of the prow ornament, notably how the tip of it has an upwards protrusion. The number of cannon port holes and their position. Yes, it's the exact same ship. So not only is the game taking place in an area previously thought to be uninhabited, it's located in such a place that's also in the new world, which means the natives here have been completely insulated from the rest of civilization for who knows how many thousands of years. Not only that, during all that time, the concept of a 'hunter' is alien to them, so they haven't even been gathering and using monster parts the same way that the rest of civilization has. If I had to guess, Wilds takes place several years after the conclusion of World, and it's possible that we're even playing as the same hunter from World since the main character is 'an experienced hunter' but it doesn't say specifically where they are from. Either that or our hunter is part of the sixth fleet with different objectives now that the mystery behind the Elder Crossing has been resolved.

I think it's somewhere in the Old World or Frontier (?), How do I know that? because the types of monsters in Wilds are more similar to those we had in the Old World. The New World has lots of Fanged Wyverns living there, the type of monster that we used to have was only one species in the Old World, which is Zinogre. So far we're not seeing any Fanged Wyvern in Wilds. Also one clue that can confirm it is that, the fact that we only had one Fanged Beast in World, that is Rajang. But we know that Rajang is an invasive species, that's why he's the only Fanged Beast that can live in the New World

An obvious one is the Forbidden Lands, lands that we seems to know for a very long time, with many traces of ancient civilisation. This doesn't fit at all with the new world.

Capcom stated this is the 6th numbered game and world is the 5th numbered game. They didn't want to call it 5 or 6 to attract new players. They are splitting the series into Arcadia style like rise and world style with world and wilds

Well I don’t think it’s “the new world” so much as “A new world”. The MH world has vast unexplored areas. The forbidden lands is an area thought to be completely uninhabited until the events of the game. Most likely the situation is that they had a small excursion into the territory at some point but due to the harsh environment and weather conditions the land was considered unfit for exploration due to the risk of loss of life being too high. After this determination they dubbed the area forbidden in guild records to discourage people from going to the area. Most likely the area is separate from the old world via a sea like the new world was. This explains why they know about the area, have a designation for the area, but know next to nothing about the area. And it being seperated by a body of water makes it more believable as to why no one decided to ignore the forbidden decree as in this world it would be very hard to cross a swathe of uncharted sea and downright stupid to go alone in a small group. So yeah I believe it’s “A new world” and not “THE new world.”

Unlikely. Aiden from MHW looked practically the same as he did in 4th Gen. And with Gemma and Fabius being dead ringers for an older Little Miss Forge and Ace Lancer, thats like 10-15 years later *at most.*

Gemma and Fabius arent confirmed yet, but the similarities are strong enough that them NOT being the 4th gen characters would feel... weird. Gemma wears a jacket with the caravan logo from MH4, meaning shes gotta be at minimum connected to it, and Fabius straight up just has Ace Lancers hairstyle and is confirmed to have been a hunter.

I very much doubt its in the new world. Wilds takes place in "the forbidden lands". Can't be forbidden if it's not even discovered yet. And in the trailer they said "believed to be uninhabited until a few years ago" so they knew about it for a long time. Then again, this could take place years in the future from World, so....i guess maybe?

That symbol...that's the symbol of the guilds of Loc Lac and Moga... *my god, i don't want to have hope, but **_could it be?..._* Both the argosy (Moga's version, the one with the "japanese" captain, the fleets of Loc Lac and the guild whose envoys that come and go to Bherna had this symbol...Then again, Lance Ace is confirmed to be Fabius, so... Ruri, PLEASE do not give me hope, but this is THE old guild symbol of 3rd Gen...if this ship belongs to those, this means that either, this belongs to the guild that went to the new world, and that in some way, this place has connections with Moga and the deserted island (since it's so far in the open sea, it can be logical), as well as Loc Lac (which i don't know if it's confirmed destroyed or not if this follows the same chronology as GenU) OR that it's just simply retro-fitted from the original Argosy (both ships look _way too identical_ ) and used in the new world, but could be possible that there's a connection with the great Sand Sea... I've already been bummed once with the implications on World, but please, *do not give me hope, Ruri* . I've yearned hunting the great sand whale(dragon) _as much as Captain Ahab's yearned to hunt the great white whale..._

8:00 look at the guy on the right side, the one at the "wheel", it looks very familiar with the one you would go to cultivate. Based on what you said, this might be a pre sequal to World. (i will edit this after the 8th minute, just in case) L. E. Maybe i am tripping but the dude with the long hair, might be the commander from World, but in Wilds he is younger, beeing the fact the humans in this universe age differently. The ships, the character... Too many similarities. Plus, in World, after you hunt Viper Toby, the cutscene is showing a crashed ship. Even more, World's handler might be the grand-daughter of one of the chars from Wilds. L.E. I saw the end of the vod. Bleah, I might edit this comment later on 🤣
