Yes, she framed Makoto, but she didn’t know that everyone else could die because of her. Her mindset was: kill Leon, escape, check on her friends, get help from the outside and help everyone else escape.

Ruruka is one of those characters that I love as a character, dislike as a person, but understand, and want to be a better person. I feel like killing Ruruka off was wasted potential, when she could've developed and redeemed herself. To be honest, it's the same with Hiyoko for me. She was undeniably a bitch, but was killed before she could develop.

Yeah I liked how brutal her death was/looked compared to Seiko and Sonosuke’s, Ruruka didn’t deserve them, and Seiko and Sonosuke didn’t deserve to die. Now I do understand that the whole reason Sonosuke was killed because he found an exit but never told Ruruka, escaping would kill Ruruka as a result, and Ruruka’s paranoia took over, but I feel like they could’ve found a way to solve the problem instead of Ruruka killing her boyfriend like that, like she literally ruined her own life, she still died in the end, that’s basically the entire point of her character. To betray her best friend and boyfriend and then kill herself. None of them win in the end, but I wish Seiko and Sonosuke did.

Worst thing is, I think I may have actually liked Ruruka as a character if the show didn’t send such mixed signals about her. Like, the writers clearly want you to sympathize with her, but her actual actions make it pretty impossible to do so. Not really, its just the community that's dumb, a character doesn't have to be automatically sympathetic to be good, thats were the Ruruka antis fall, she's a great representation of the narcissist in the narcissist and coopented relationships, usually coopenteds are getting seen as quickly and not people who need actual help, bc a numerous amount of coopented characters don't have an narcissist, but Ruruka clearly changed that, it made everybody realize that, so even if you don't feel sympathy for her, or think her actions having morals is not good writing is impossible to not acknowledge the fact that her character arc is so good hidden, its just beautiful how such a gem is hiding behind the stereotypical mean girl+ good representation so its not really that she's not sympathetic, its just people who refuse to acknowledge other parts of her character for no good reason.

Ruruka was a person broken by trust issues in a situation where even normal trust issues are used and abused. How can anyone call her a bad person in a situation like that? When she killed Izayoi she was crying and couldn't see any other way out, which Izayoi understood and accepted. When she was taken over by the brainwashing, the amount of self-h@rm she inflicted unlike the others shows her internal hatred she has for herself for what she did. She needed mental support, instead she had the weight of the world thrusted on her shoulders in school, outside of school and then in a game where people were forced to kill one another. Yeah, she broke. No surprise.

Frankly, I hate her redemption. Throughout the anime she’s shown to pressure Seiko a lot with her candies and always asks from Seiko, but then her redemption is just “Oh, I just relied on you because you were so much better”. Her character was really cool, dealing with how paranoia and suspicion can drive a person to make hasty actions. But, the dynamic between Seiko and Ruruka was just bad imo, the common trope where one side is takes advantage but the other side doesn’t stand up. Its just not my favorite and I think it ruins Ruruka for me tbh.

Even though it was unintentional, Nagito still caused the bags and antidote to switch and Ruruka thought Seiko betrayed her. RURUKA DOESNT DESERVE THE HATE SHE GETS ok i know a lot of people here dislike her and think shes a backstabbing roach But hear me out She only killed her bf because she was scared to be betrayed by him And yes, she knows he’s a loyal great boyfriend but shes paranoid and doesnt trust anybody besides herself Shes afraid of being betrayed and i dont know if this is because of trauma or something but she shouldnt be hated just because shes scared of something that might happen in the future Not to mention the fact if her bf (i literally dont know his name-) escaped she would easily die and lose She also attacked seiko for the same reason She didnt trust her because of what happened when the was letting the judges taste test her candy Seiko didnt betray her at that time but ruruka didnt know and thought seiko DID It was just a mix up between nagito and seiko’s bags which made her lose the drug that ruruka was supposed to use for her candy and instead she got it switched up with nagito’s Now im not saying shes an innocent sweet angel who did nothing wrong She obviously did something wrong but not because she wanted to Compare her between junko, junko loves to kill people for the sake of her boredom which she could just get rid of in another way as for ruruka who only betrayed and backstabbed her friend and bf because of her fear Ruruka isnt a beat up barbie doll shes just misunderstood This wont change the fact that people will still hate her, your opinions do matter and nobody should change them but she deserves less hate Just because of what she seems like doesnt mean she really is that Another example of this type of character is tsumugi Tsumugi was just a normal girl to begin with Junko appeared out of nowhere and started killing games then showed them to the world It just so happens that tsumugi was one of the people who saw that show fun on tv and she became a big fan So when junko died she took over She was the one starting killing games But not because she was bored and wanted to do it for fun Its because junko did it for fun Its because junko became her role model Its because junko was brainwashing people including her with a television show None of the characters from danganronpa are crazy bitches Just junko Junko is the only actual crazy person in danganronpa Oh god i just realized i wrote a whole essay about ruruka

Somewhat same here! I view things a lot similarly to how she does, except I’m also a lot like Seiko as where my main goal is just to help people, so I’m able to understand both of them better. I’ve been in Seiko’s place, manipulated and used for years upon end, and I still let it happen cause I unlike ruruka I have no fear of betrayal, but I do have a fear of abandonment and people leaving me so I just do whatever people tell me to do even if it ends up hurting me. I understand that the people who manipulate others have their own problems and only do it because of their own insecurities cause I have a similar mindset, it’s just my heart would never let me go far enough to hurt someone the way I was. I don’t think people should hate on ruruka because it takes time to understand why she did what she did, and that she wasn’t given the chance to fully redeem herself in the end. Obviously she still has her flaws but of course this is Danganronpa she died too soon. She isn’t my ultimate favorite but is one that I heavily relate to

Anybody else like how Ruruka is hinted at having a possibly drug addiction (in the flashbacks she often fakes symptoms to get Seiko to give her medicine/drugs) and Seiko actively enables this and yet she dosent get hated on for enabling Rurukas drug addiction nor the fact that it kinda seemed like when they were revealing their backstory they (the writers) wanted to make them both to blame but the fandom just ignores what Seiko did because *reasons*, like hate her all you want but at least unlike some other characters **kokichi ouma** she has depth to her character, is likable, has a motive that makes sense, and is written way better than him.
