"Twenty five drivers start every season in Formula One. And each year, two of us die. What kind of person does a job like this? Not normal men, for sure. Rebels, lunatics, dreamers. People who are desperate to make a mark, and are prepared to die trying. "My name is Niki Lauda, and racing people know me for two things. The first is my rivalry with him. I don't know why it became such a big thing. We were just drivers, busting each other's balls. To me this is perfectly normal, but other people saw it differently. That whatever it was between us went deeper. "The other thing I'm remembered for is what happened on 1st August 1976, when I was chasing him like an asshole..."

Whenever I listen to this track, I remember the innate respect I have for drivers - regardless if they're F1 and MotoGP. I remember watching the Malaysian Moto GP the day Marco Simoncelli was lost to us, and I remember watching the Japanese GP when Jules Bianchi was in what would be his fatal accident. I think the reason why Rush is such a magnificently built movie is that, even though I went into it knowing that Niki Lauda would survive, it still spoke to the part of me that knows. Drivers die. They die doing the things they love, but they die nonetheless. Sure, I don't remember Lauda's accident, nor Ayrton Senna's since I was too young to have witnessed them, but I am absolutely sure that all of these accidents remind me of the pure gut it takes to sit at the wheel of a car or a bike. I watch more Alpine Skiing than Motorsports, but even then do I remember that these sports are so inherently dangerous and I can't for the love of me show enough respect to these guys, who are willing to lay down their lives to do what they love. Rush on, you amazing people. You won't be forgotten, and your legacy will live on. #ForzaJules #MarcoSimoncelli

I like Ron as we are the same age and go back to Opie, but all his movies have invented confrontations and character assassinations to sell tickets. In Apollo 13, he had Fred Haise and Jack Swigert as almost enemies and this was not true. He also portrayed Swigert as incompetent and Jack had died of cancer before the 1995 movie and could not defend himself. 2) Cinderella Man - He made Max Baer look like a common born murderer, and the Baer family vehemently protested again a dead man's portrayal. In Rush, I must have missed the scene where Lauda and Hunt were roommates. Look at the end of the movie when we see the real life two. Looks more like friends that bitter rivals. Don't let the facts get in the way of a good story is in play here.

This time though, there was a rivalry. Lauda himself said the move is 80% correct in its protrayal.

This film is easily one of my favourites. I saw it at a hard time in my life and it just resonated with me completely for some reason, aided greatly (of course) by Zimmer's amazing soundtrack. I hear 1:40 and I'm instantly transported back to a different time in my life when things were simpler and harder all at once, and it's just breathtaking. Brings a tear to my eye, genuinely.
