From Rush's best yet most underrated album, Presto. NOTHING sounds like this. Nothing sounds like what they did from 1984-1989. It's simply glorious music!!

When i was in highscool, i would meditate to this entire album. I even re-recorded it onto another tape so it would be nonstop for 109 minutes. Meditation as in transcendental meditation, or Astral Projection. I visited alot of places and states of existence with this whole album! Still do.

One of the true hidden jewels of the Rush catalog. Probably the most personal to me. I’m sick that Neil is gone.
@ruthylopez5 жыл бұрын
Rick, I'm going to say something controversial: as a lifelong Rush fanatic, I so desperately WANT to like this "era" of their music, as much as I like the Hemispheres-Permanent Waves-Moving Pictures era, but if I'm being honest with myself, I just don't like it as much. I still like these albums, and listen to them, but what I find is that there are shorter "pieces" or "parts" of the song that "move" me. Whereas for all the albums from Signals and before, I am "moved" by EVERY single note of EVERY single song. I almost feel like I'm not being loyal to my favorite band. I know that must sound weird to the people who prefer the softer (for lack of a better word) albums. Regardless, Neil's lyrics (and drumming) changed my life back when I was a teenager. Anyway, thanks for listening.

Hi Carlos, I understand what you mean, but I got into Rush late, like’ ‘94. Their first song I actually realized was Animate. And to me hearing that intro, at that time in my life (18) was something I’ll never forget. The musicianship and maturity, after my years of metal and grunge was such a contrast. I was hooked. So it is also about our moments and where we were in life too.

I can't say enough about how beautiful this song is. It's pulsing....almost demanding. It doesn't have the cold sheen Rush songs tend to have (also, before you think I'm bashing on them I have "Rush" and "2112" tattooed on my forearms, lol). It's just perfect.

This has always been one of my top ten favourite Rush songs. Incredible imagery in Neil Peart's intelligent, thought-provoking lyrics, a hard driving, but pop-inflected melody, and piano parts (played by the band's album designer Hugh Syme) that add a feeling of depth, sophistication and maturity to the entire work. What's not to like. This piece is not only sheer genius but an absolute masterpiece. Too bad that it's such an underrated song.

My favorite RUSH tune of ALL time. I was on a "pilgrimage" to Toronto in 1990 when I bought Presto just before crossing into Canada. Listened to it for the first time up the QE to Toronto.
