Give these lady interviewers a break guys! They have to interview virtually every kind of person under the sun, so how many people even know what intonation is? If you are not a musician or interested deeply in musical instruments you won't know much about it. So just be glad they took a good stab at it and let the expert explain things. I think they did very well!

+roman14032 I wish Gibson would get it through their heads that maybe they should offer more varieties guitars other than forty different varieties of Les Paul. They should go back to making Explorer and Flying V basses and should put the RD series and Ripper/Grabber series basses back into production.

Yes of course correct bridge saddle travel does allow proper intonation, but his bass bridge is not an 'invention' it's just a 'retrofit' to make the instrument type properly functional. Exactly in the way the old Les Paul Wraptail guitars sucked for intonation so you could buy a Badass replacement with fully adjustable saddles. Or the nicer-looking Wilkinson one that is at least compensated - a few solutions based on the same goal: www.tdpri.com/attachments/yhst-50206111187217_2112_10215285-jpg.54115/

Hello fellow TBer godofthunder59, Physics here. It's an interesting replacement for the stock 3-point Gibson bridge. The action looks nice and low there. I have a 2015 Gibby TBird with the Babicz FCH bridge and like it, great sustain. It doesn't look as if the saddle heights can be individually adjusted, I like setting the string heights to conform to the 12" fretboard radius. Good luck with the bridge.
@TheHiwattScott6 жыл бұрын
Jim Nesta Hi Jim, 60s Thunderbirds are not equipped with a three point bridge. They use a two point bridge with tailpiece. The original bridge does not have enough travel to set the intonation, the Badbird has extended travel to solve this problem. "Intonation without modification " is my mantra.
@TheHiwattScott4 жыл бұрын
1963-1969 Thunderbirds do not have the three point but the two piece bridge and tailpiece. The Badbird Bridge provides intonation without modification for 1960's Thunderbirds.

I am surprised Geddy's guitar tech didn't figure this out on his own. I understand he's not a luthier but why not just rescrew the bridge down a little closer or further from the nut if the saddles don't reach the correct position? Yes you would be adding holes to the body but the could be plugged and would most likely be hidden by the bridge.
@TheHiwattScott6 жыл бұрын
Patrick Powers Hello Patrick, 60s Thunderbirds are now to valuable to drill and relocate the bridge. I designed and manufacture the Badbird to solve this problem. "Intonation without modification " is my mantra.

@@jackquarantillo5192 Actually, he was a Fender guy before, and during his "Rick guy" period. He used a Precision bass on the first album. After they signed to Mercury, he used some of their first advance to buy the Rickenbacker who used throughout the rest of the 70's and early 80's. But along the way, he got a lot of other basses, and I remember him saying that on Moving Pictures, at least, a lot of that album is actually a Jazz Bass. I think he said that Tom Sawyer, in particular, was a Jazz Bass, and in the Vital Signs video, he's shown playing a Jazz Bass also.

Not everyone is a musician. The hosts don;t get to choose guests. They interview whoever the producer gives them.
'Absolutely' has been completely flogged to death. Just tired of everyone saying it way too often. Count how many times you hear it on tv and out in public. 'Totally' rocks in my book dude...it's not the 'A' word. I'm old so yes, I remember when skater/surfer terms were the rage. 'Gnarly' was and still is a personal favorite.

What? 'absolutely' and 'sure' have very different implications. Saying 'sure' in the context of agreement is kind of dismissive, like you're indifferent or barely in agreement. 'Absolutely' is to imply that you completely agree. 'Absolutely' is just a stronger word. Not sure what your qualms are with his word choice but they are not as interchangeable as you believe
