To understand the literal meaning of the term, 30+ years later, this might help: "The Distant Early Warning Line, also known as the DEW Line or Early Warning Line, was a system of radar stations in the northern Arctic region of Canada, with additional stations along the north coast and Aleutian Islands of Alaska (see Project Stretchout and Project Bluegrass), in addition to the Faroe Islands, Greenland, and Iceland. It was set up to detect incoming bombers of the Soviet Union during the Cold War, and provide early warning of any sea-and-land invasion." (Wikipedia)

@@rbjax2001 '81 was my favorite year of rush. Moving Pictures & Exit Stage Left was a period where Alex began using a little more Fender guitars while getting the best imo sounds out of Gibsons I've ever heard. It was that in between period after the minimalistic guitar/Amp setup and before the synth heavy / polished effects precessors sounds. I liked all three but prefer that goldilocks 1977-81 period.

Rush is one of those unique bands with a unique sound an doesn't appeal to most hard rock/prog rock fans. In the 80's, liking Rush often got you labeled as a nerd or egg head, and back then I couldn't figure out why. nowadays MTV SUCKS! With shows like "pregnant at 16" it just went completely out of order.

I remember this time when the music scene was pushing a new wave sound and Rush put this record out and blew away the new wave acts clean out of the water. Rush, kicking ass and taking names!\m/

Lost my grandmother and Neil on the same day. It was tough but they both meant so much to me in their own ways

I absolutely ADORE Rush and their tendencies to touch the very nerves with their music, but in a good way!

An ill wind comes arising Across the cities of the plain There's no swimming in the heavy water No singing in the acid rain Red alert Red alert It's so hard to stay together Passing through revolving doors We need someone to talk to And someone to sweep the floors Incomplete Incomplete The world weighs on my shoulders But what am I to do? You sometimes drive me crazy But I worry about you I know it makes no difference To what you're going through But I see the tip of the iceberg And I worry about you Cruising under your radar Watching from satellites Take a page from the red book And keep them in your sights Red alert Red alert Left and rights of passage Black and whites of youth Who can face the knowledge That the truth is not the truth Obsolete Absolute, yeah Ohh The world weighs on my shoulders But what am I to do? You sometimes drive me crazy But I worry about you I know it makes no difference To what you're going through But I see the tip of the iceberg And I worry about you The world weighs on my shoulders But what am I to do? You sometimes drive me crazy But I worry about you I know it makes no difference To what you're going through But I see the tip of the iceberg And I worry about you Absalom, Absalom, Absalom

Took me decades to finally look up wth absalom was. I still dont really fully know how it applies to these lyrics but thats ok. It sounds cool lol
@marswmnwhoever21882 жыл бұрын
@@trenken Absolom means Peace( father ofPeace/peace essentially) in Hebrew...so at the end of their song. Same thing as if you tell someone " peace out" as you are leaving. Ahead of their time...lol

These guys were so good between Neil’s drums and Geddy’s Bass what a powerful musical force throw in the guitar of Alex and you have the stuff of legends honestly the pop swing in the 80’s kinda turned me off but even then the drums, bass and guitar that is unique to only these three shines through
