What a true gem for all ages and decades. 31 years old here and so happy I had amazing parents who fell in love listening to Songs from the Big Chair on repeat and had this one in constant rotation throughout my childhood. Funny and almost fate-like that my now husband and I fell in love to the same album. SHOUT out to anybody from the 80s that got to experience this absolute classic firsthand brand-new in the 80s. This is one millennial that feels lost in the wrong decade telling you I have nostalgia for a time I wasn't even there for and feel like I truly should have been. Keep rocking you guys

But do you really understand? It's even deeper than you might realize. Type in Tears for Fears and Primal Therapy. The song is actually based on childhood trauma and Arthur Janov's Primal Therapy. It's not a protest song, although that's what people have made it into. I love it for that reason too. It's like The Police and Every Breath You Take. Totally misconstrued understanding of the meaning of the artist. But hey, that's the beauty of art. We all make our own interpretations out of it!

Lyrics: Shout, shout, let it all out These are the things I can do without Come on, I'm talking to you, come on Shout, shout, let it all out These are the things I can do without Come on, I'm talking to you, come on In violent times You shouldn't have to sell your soul In black and white They really, really ought to know Those one track minds that took you for a working boy Kiss them goodbye You shouldn't have to jump for joy You shouldn't have to jump for joy Shout, shout, let it all out These are the things I can do without Come on, I'm talking to you, come on They gave you life And in return you gave them Hell as cold as ice I hope we live to tell the tale I hope we live to tell the tale Shout, shout, let it all out These are the things I can do without Come on, I'm talking to you, come on Shout, shout, let it all out These are the things I can do without Come on, I'm talking to you, come on Shout, shout, let it all out (Let it all out) These are the things I can do without Come on, I'm talking to you, come on And when you've taken down your guard If I could change your mind I'd really love to break your heart I'd really love to break your heart Shout, shout, let it all out These are the things I can do without (Break your heart) Come on, I'm talking to you, come on (I'd really love to break your heart) Shout, shout, let it all out These are the things I can do without Come on, I'm talking to you so come on Shout, shout, let it all out These are the things I can do without Come on, I'm talking to you, come on Shout, shout, let it all out (They really, really ought to know) These are the things I can do without (Really, really ought to know) Come on, I'm talking to you, come on (They really, really) (They really, really ought to know) Shout, shout, let it all out (I'd really love to break your heart) These are the things I can do without (I'd really love to break your heart) Come on, I'm talking to you so come on Shout, shout, let it all out
