As someone who is going to see a great many things wrong with humanity in the next twenty years of my career, I am hoping that when I retire I can sit down, look at myself in the mirror, and say those words; "I'm still me". Some days, even now, I find it hard. But it's little things like this that remind me that no matter what happens, I can sit down and say that I will always be myself. I just need to remember what it means to be me. And all I can hope for is that my family says the same when I get back home. I'm a year late to this party, but thanks Rush. I appreciate your work.

I had only discovered this channel 2 or 3 months ago; with the Fly Away Orchestration piece. And ever since then, I've been listening to piece after piece, each one just as good if not better than the last - though if I were to be asked which arrangement is my favorite, I would simply say "All of them". And today, I've stumbled upon this piece. After taking a few minutes to just freeze and allow myself to listen to the piece... I just started to cry. This arrangement is just so... it's not just a song. It's not just another arrangement/piece, it's... something that I could spend years trying to explain, and still be unable to give justice to the detail that the description for this song deserves-at least, in my eyes. From the very first note to the final rest, every pitch, every rhythm, every instrument; they don't just all come together to tell this one glorious story- each and every individual piece has its own legacy that it's sharing with one another, their paths crossing over continuously as they continuously push to create an entire world of its own. My childhood was a very dark, and sad one. My mother abandoned our family at the age of three, and my father proceeded to physically abuse me for the next three years. When I wasn't being hurt in some way shape or form, I was being completely neglected. In fact, I'd only been able to stay alive and have a decent education during these times because of my sister, who would find food for us and teach me how to read and write. Needless to say, once these things were discovered, we were put into foster care pretty quickly. The next 4 years were spent with the family that I'm adopted in now. It's been 6 years since that day that we were adopted...and yet it was only last month that I had found out about my own past; about my own story. We received a copy of our adoption papers and other various legal documents because we're trying to fix an issue that we have with our lawyer somehow forgetting to include the information that our names were changed with our adoption those 6 years ago (We can't get a license because of this, and that means we can't get jobs or a driver's license either until this is fixed). A particular document, with the label of a court case or something along those lines, caught my attention. And that's how I found out about all of these things that had happened to me. Even now, I only know so little that there's not much I can say about my past, nor lineage. However, I found out three things that day. My father died a week after I was adopted. My mother has disappeared from the face of the earth. And my so-called "Family" had been straight up lying to me, or at least concealing information that you'd think would be important to tell someone, for over a decade. Besides all of this, when I look back on everything and take a moment to see where I am, I know that I'm still the same curious, playful, helpful, adventurous little boy that I was ten years ago when I first stepped into what would be my new home. And it really opened my mind, to see that despite the fact that there have been so many things trying to weigh me down or get in my way; for such a long time; none of it has been able to change who I am. Now, I'm a kid who's throwing himself into the world around him, helping as many people as he can without giving it a second thought. Despite all of the evils that the world has thrown at me, I refuse to follow its example and decide to help as many people as I can. I'm kind of rambling at this point but... I wanted to say thank you. For your work, for your efforts, for your talents, for everything. For helping me, when I needed someone to lean on.

The day had only just begun. The sun had risen, bathing the sky in its hues. The ocean captured a deep azure that hid depths no one could imagined. Fish of all colors swirling around a single spot, keeping in mind the terms of her agreement. And she rose in the center of their boundary. In a glow of red, she appeared on the sea, her brown, almost blonde hair obeying the movements of the wind. Her red clothes a contrast to the shades of blue surrounding her. Still and rigid attempting to feign relaxed, she slowly opened her eyes, and tried to hide the unreasonable disappointment that she wasn’t anywhere near land. Though, she had known being a host for the Guardian entailed forever being connected to the territory they oversaw. At least she was permitted to see the surface every few months. Others had to wait years before even glimpsing what they were protecting. Taking an unneeded breath, she started walking towards an unknown destination. Her steps sent out ripples aiming for lands miles away. Lands that contained homes she wished with all of her heart she could return to. Where her brother would tilt his head to the left when he’d make breakfast. Where her sister danced lighter than air when she moved. Where her father filled almost every second with sentences that refused to bore them. Her path stopped at the border where the fish continued to swim in a loop that showed her the limit of her path. She sighed, and turned around to walk towards the other end of her prison. A prisoner, to the Guardian of Waves and chained to the sea. For safety granted her home, she could never see it again. She would carry the burden of being the host of Guardian, and she’d fight against anything that would dare disrupt her land. She’d protect her home, and give up her freedom. Each and every day. If she was given the choice to turn the clock, to alter fate, she knew she would not change her choice. It was always her land, her family over herself. She would suffer torture thousands of times for eons over if it guaranteed them even a second of peace and safety. Perhaps her view would change. After all, she still has centuries before her body would burn out and become unusable for the Guardian. Maybe she’d be filled with bitterness. Maybe seeing just the skies and oceans wouldn’t be enough. After all, it wouldn’t be the first it’d happen, and she knew there’d be others after her that would forsake their decision. But for now, her mind has not been dulled, and she would not change time. For now, she was still the same girl who accepted the burden with resignation. She was still the her she remembered herself as. _Albeit a bit taller,_ she thought as she looked at her reflection in the waters. She felt a tugging in her soul, calling to her. Pulling her down and reminding her of her duty, she took a last look at the skies to save to her memory, and sunk beneath the waves as quickly as she came. She let her consciousness relinquish control, and for the Guardian to take over. There’s much work to do. After all, the day has just begun.
