As a musician, I have to point out the song ends in an actual ghost-note, as I have the sheet music. That's pretty cool.

This song has a special place in my heart. I had an interview at MSG this one afternoon and they took about 10 of us on a tour of the arena and we were sitting there and suddenly we heard a commotion on stage. Little did I realize that RUSH was playing that night and came out to do their soundcheck and they did this song. I got the job and an invite to come see the show that night. ✌

Alex's solo on this song was done in one take. He likes to take a few runs, but after he finished the first take. They pretty much said "nope you're good!" I would highly recommend La Villa Strangiato or Xanadu live from Exit Stage Left. The first is instrumental heaven and the second is jaw dropping in their level of talent. To see Geddy Lee sing, play a double neck, keyboards and Taurus pedals is mind blowing. Glad I came across this, and it was nice to see a reaction of a song that you don't hear much about. Take care ✌

This is a "relationship" song for Rush. They didn't have many but, in their case, quality wins out over quantity. Another relationship song they had was on the Hold Your Fire album from 1987. The song is called "Open Secrets". You should check it out! Yes, Alex's guitar work on this song was very Bluesy! Excellent work, Alex! Last, Geddy's name has a hard-G sound, not soft; like "gold". Geddy Lee. He was born Gary Weinrib and his Immigrant Grandmother could not pronounce "Gary" like an American, but "Geddy", in her Eastern European accent! She pronounced Gary "Geddy" and thus was born Geddy Lee!! :)

@@NicknLex, you guys know about Geddy's parents, right? How and where they met? Geddy's parents met at Dachau, during the WWII Holocaust. They later got moved to Bergen-Belson and then Auschwitz. Somehow they survived but I know that Geddy's Grandmother was instrumental in helping them survive. She kept them together and, somehow, they made it through.

Let's not forget the beautiful "Different Strings" and "Entre Nous" (French for "Between Us") ... the songs are about love/relationships, but in such a complex, mature and satisfying way. Then again, it is Neil-freakin-Peart. Sample from Entre Nous: "We are planets to each other Drifting in our orbits To a brief eclipse Each of us a world apart Alone and yet together Like two passing ships" Oh yeah, and almost forgot about "Tears". (makes me melancholy though)

Yes, this is an absolutely beautiful Rush track from the Roll The Bones album from 1991. Often overlooked and rarely reacted to, so this was a pleasant surprise to see actually. Rush fans are fiercely loyal to the band, many of which, including myself, have been fans of theirs for over 40 years. The drummer, Neil Peart, died this year unfortunately, bringing the bands discography to a close. Their back catalogue is immense with albums filled with music that move with the times. Take any decade from the late 60's onwards and travel a journey of musical diversity that takes the band to their rightful place as rock legends.

Great reaction. I love this song from Roll The Bones. The music sounds like Halloween, thus the title. The key message is "I believe there is a ghost of a chance that we'll find someone to love...and make it last." The last part "And make it last." is the part Neil wanted to emphasize when he wrote the lyrics to this song.

Just found y'alls channel today. I regret to have missed the "LIVE WATCHPARTY" done the other day. I love seeing folks experience Rush for the first time. I've been a fan of Rush since high school, starting somewhere after 1979. I've seen Rush live in concert so many times, I have truthfully lost count. I had a customer, who was in Canada, and Rush actually performed at her high school in their early days. I think she had said it was their prom, but I could be mistaken. I've taken my son to see Rush in concert, I think it has been four times, the last time being what was filmed for the Rush: Clockwork Angels Tour video. We were blessed to have second row seats, with Alex Lifeson playing right in front of us. I believe that my son and I are in the videos for each and every song. We definitely will never forget the experience.

With these lyrics, Neil offers a pragmatic approach to the concept of love. One little change in either's timeline could have resulted in them not meeting or doing so under different circumstances. Very easily, each could have found love with someone else. He proposes that love is not magic formed by destiny, fate, eternal love, astrology, religion, or anything mystical. Yes, it is special, but not magic. It requires work, respect, admiration, desire, and all kinds of other emotions and compromises.

After almost 35 years my wife & I think of this as one of "our songs". Alex's solo is spectacular in my opinion. Very expressive, very emotive textures he evokes with the volume swells and the brilliant use of minor modes to convey a feeling. This was a fun one to watch as I rarely see anyone reacting to these Rush 'deep tracks'. "Prime Mover" and "Time Stand Still" from the album "Hold Your Fire" would be really good ones to add to your collection. This is from the album "Roll the Bones" which is a concept album. All of the songs stand alone but if you listen to them and really pay attention to the lyrics you will find that they all have a common frame of reference. The phrase "to roll the bones" means to throw dice. The element of 'random chance' in our lives. "I believe there's a ghost of a chance" is where this song anchors itself to that motif. As a matter of fact you will find that several of Rush's albums are like that. Not like "Caress of Steel", "2112" or "Hemispheres" with side long extravaganza production pieces. I'm talking abut albums like "Hold Your Fire". "Presto", "Counterparts", "Vapor Trails", "Snakes & Arrows" and even "Clockwork Angels".

Love this song choice. There are so many "Side B" awesome Rush songs beyond their classic hits. Here's one..."Scars" (from their Preston album in 1990). You won't believe Neil Peart is playing all the percussion at the same time. Super catchy song too. Great reactions!

I was fortunate to see Rush in concert. The year was 2010. Tour was their Time Machine tour. Tour's setlist was their songs from late 70's to mid 2000's or about 3 and 1/2 hours of music. 2015 was their last to tour when they did R40 tour. Reason for stopped touring is that Alex and Neil were had issues with their bodies (I don't think Neil's cancer showed up or it did).

One of their best songs. Sometimes their subtle stuff is better than their harder songs.

The follow-up, "Neurotica," is my favorite from Roll The Bones. It's rather funky, in my humble opinion.

You could probably dedicate an entire YT channel to Rush reactions..they have so many amazing songs with beautiful deep lyrics. Neil Peart is so good at bringing inanimate objects to life. Like in the song The Trees..or Countdown which is a song about a space shuttle launch they witnessed. But songs like Camera Eye, Available Light, Between the Wheels..all awesome songs. By the say I just watched your reaction to Jacobs Ladder..such a great song from an awesome album..about those beams of light that poke through clouds after a storm. RIP Neil Peart..there was no one who wrote lyrics or played drums like this man.

I should have mentioned that I have been a fan since when they played at our high school in the early 70’s, and I have some personal connections with them.

I've been a Rush fan since 1983. I was 14 when I first heard their live album Exit..stage Left, and I've loved their music ever since. Although, for me they peaked at Moving Pictures, they continued to make great albums, and this song would be very high in my Rush chart. I always found this song very moving. It seems incredible that may people consider Rush an 'unemotional' band.

I think this came out as a single in early ‘92, it’s a love song but also touches on Peart’s atheism. Freewill and some other songs hit that subject a little as well
