So good to hear Neil's voice and how he was thinking then, and his energy. Wow.

G/u/P is a cornerstone reason why my favorite Rush albums are Permanent Waves through Power Windows (and probably Hold Your Fire, too, which IS excellent as well). There have been times in my Rush-fan life where I have said, "Maybe Grace Under Pressure is their best, and my favorite album." Then it alternates between that and Permanent Waves, Moving Pictures, and Exit...Stage Left. Signals creeps up there every now and then, too. Hey, ALL their releases are great. Some of them just catch the ear more poignantly sometimes, and this one does that almost more than them all, for me. Cheers, By-Tor, and thank you for this excellent and important interview!

Permanent Waves through Power Windows is my fave era as well. Primarily because thats when they caught my ear as a young drummer in middle school when 'Tom Sawyer' was released and HUGE.I stuck my nose up at Power Windows for YEARS. Then in the last 18 months or so, I finally HEARD it. It is absolutely glorious. Just incredibly beautiful and, to me, the best sounding album of that era sonically. It's insane how they pulled PW songs live with the limited technology there was in 85-86. In Ged's book, he kind of goes into how they pulled it off live on that tour with the then-primitive MIDI available. Signals is very sentimental to me, as that was one of my first slabs of vinyl and got to see them on that tour when they came to town.

Sure makes me wonder who owns this channel. But I am grateful these time capsules exist.

Thanks for posting this. I was not as into Rush then as a teen as I am now as an old fart. These recordings of interviews are priceless. I have read a lot of old interviews but there is something even better about hearing the words spoken and the tone of voice that was used. Great stuff!

I wish the songs were kept in in these radio specials, u hear the guys talking about them and so u want to hear the song they are talking about. It would be nice to hear the entire broadcast as it was originally presented. Miss these guys, RIP Neil Peart, the professor.

Courage! Was my first time seeing Rush live and I remember thinking they were the first band that sounded as good or better live than the studio version. Many concerts of the era were rather disappointing due to performance and sound quality. R.I.P. NP

Didn't Neil have a rat's tail at this time?
@karlbaird26722 жыл бұрын
He also had the pony tail on the Power windows album

yes but the production on p/g sucked.......screeching highs, thin attenuated, diminished dead drums sounds, over bearing synths, blaring etched..........horrible sounding

It didn't sound bad at all
@geftiler2112 Жыл бұрын
I agree very thin sounding with no dynamics.

Not to mention the sibilance on the vocals. I love the album, but it has issues in the sound dept.
