I moved to Vietnam for work and bought my first motorcycle in 2018. Imagine learning to ride in this! Yet, I lucked out, and never had an accident, but I white-knuckled it every single day.

I learned to ride in 2011 when I was 63, in Chiang Mai, Thailand. Not a big deal there but after moving to Bangkok that notion changed. Now I'm in Pattaya with all sorts of tourists who think they can handle Thai drivers (and me), as a result the local hospitals wrap up a lot of road rash. Still, not as insane as Vietnam.

i agree. However, they actually help a lot. Not everyone look at the policeman. However, people who are at the front will see them and follow their commands. The rest just follow those people. And when the police commands to stop, the people in the front will stop and everyone behind will stop as well

Just came back from HCMC last week. I’m Filipino and I prefer this over Manila’s traffic jams. I just wish they’d have overpasses and/or underpasses for pedestrians in HCMC. Sometimes the flow of traffic does not stop or slow down it’s really scary to cross.
@AssBlasster
@AssBlasster 2 жыл бұрын
Overpasses work very well in Las Vegas Strip to separate pedestrian and 12 lanes of car traffic. SE Asian cities could definitely use some

Some day. I see that there is already pedestrian underpass and overpass sign yet never actually see an underpass before, nor many people use overpass. I love Singapore Overpass though. It's so good to not to use it. Some even have lot of slope and elevator or connecting to Metro and shopping mall (celementi). How cool is that!? Someday my Vietnam could be like that, for now finish the Metro is good enough.

In East, South East Asia, it's not just the right of way, it's accommodating other people A.K.A putting consideration on other people which North America driver can't even comprehend it (Also China, they drive like True Americans) If you only use the right of way and personal space mindset (also individualism). You will get accidents and road rage every millisecond in here. This resulted in more attention on the road and better reaction time. On the other hand, it's more exhausting due to the attention it needs.
