I can just imagine Neil as a young man strolling through the woods before he had a care in the world smoking a joint, laying down in a knoll in the forest, and thinking about the world in a THC high, and conceiving a world of tree wars with oaks, maples, elms, birch, cherry, hickory, walnut and ANY tree around. Absolutely genius. My first concert in 1978. Special memories.

@garylagstrom38642 жыл бұрын
RUSH is THE PERFECT EXAMPLE of the fluidity of MASTERING TIME SIGNATURES! I play drums and there are a few things that you need to know about Neil Peart’s ( pronounced PEER-T) character: First he writes the lyrics so he knows in advance what TYPE of song it’s meant to be ie ballad, driver, etc. Second he COMPOSES on the drums… like a carpenter who looks at a set of blueprints before building the object. Neil lays out a SKETCH in his mind of the VOICES of the drumset and builds the song from there. He is also a great LISTENER knowing when NOT to step over Geddy’s singing or Alex’s solos! Finally, he had perfect timing and fluidity of time changes. He said himself that it’s not about COUNTING the time signatures as much as fluid motion to change the tempo without counting: in other words it should FLOW! He hates repeating the same drum patterns in the same song meaning if he plays a fill one way the first time around he will play it differently the second time around. IE. Rolls down the toms the first time around and triplets or quads (all four limbs) the second time around. In short there will NEVER be another like him on planet earth 🌍 🌏 🌎! REST IN PEACE PROFESSOR! With heart felt admiration and sincerity! Gary

Saw Rush on the Hemispheres & Permanent Waves tours. They first played the entire Hemispheres album, then played the entire 2112 album!! The Encore was "Anthem" taken from Ayn Rands' novella of the same title. For the Permanent Waves, entire PW album, By-Tor and the Snow Dog, Xanadu, Fly by Night, Working Man, Closer to the Heart, Bastille Day, The Necromancer. Encore included Lakeside Park and Finding My Way. My friends and I each wrote the track lists on our arms to see who was most Stoned (acid was good back then...) We compared each others arms the next day and put the final sequence together. Most of those friends have entered the doors of Valhalla. They are sorely missed....

There is trouble in the nervous system And the nerve cells all have fled As the neurons scream 'oppression!' And the brains, just shake their heads So the neurons formed a union And demanded equal rights 'The brains are just too greedy We will make them give us spike Now there's no more brain oppression For they passed a noble law And the neurons are all kept equal By infections, seizure, And stroke

I used to get along with liberals pretty well a decade ago. I disagreed with them, but things were respectful. Conservatives, on the other hand, were quite argumentative. Now, I can't even be friends with most liberals. As soon as I say something they disagree with - blocked. "I'm pro choice, but I don't think pro-lifers are motivated by a desire to control women like you claim." That's gotten me blocked and banned so many times and caused an argument with my girlfriend's cousin and his wife. Because it's so God damn important that we never sympathize with "them" and try to find truths that make them human. Now that the left has gained substantial influence on culture, corporations, and media, conservatives who mocked libertarians are now welcoming libertarians as allies. Discourse is fucked up. People don't fight for truth. They fight for what makes their side more powerful.
