My child hood friends dad was in the Merchant Navy, I remember him using the 150 litre bag for going to and from work/ship, used them for many many years, very durable bags and used by many offshore workers like oil rig workers as you don't want to be lugging around a suit case in that profession I'm told. Some people say it is too big too heavy, well that depends on the guy and what you need for the job, some people need to carry a lot of cold weather gear and work wear, bulky jumpers and coats, warm and cold weather safety boots, own hard hat, tools etc etc, the 150 done the job for my friends dad for decades, he was in the merchant navy for over 40 years and he used this bag for well over 20 years in his career to my memory. I think this bag has past the test in my book.

I wanted to get Patagonia, I like the company, but the base camp s has been a home run. It has this unique thing about it that it not only carries really well as a backpack but it also looks really good. That's what I actually noticed first when I saw it on people and didn't know it.. It holds its shape nicely, doesn't sack on the back and I don't know how it does it.. material is one think but I think cilinder shape has something to do with that.. Another thing I've come to appreciate is that it stands up reliably upright and there's a lot situations when this is handy. I'd buy again. I actually want other sizes now..

Such an awesome video! I am not sure whether the small or the medium. I am flying with American Airlines and I would love this bag as a backpack and not a carry on. Would you think that the medium would be accepted as a backpack or should I go with the small one? Like, would the medium fit under the seat in front of me?
@RushfasterTV Жыл бұрын
The North Face Base Camp Duffel is a versatile bag that can be carried as a backpack, but it's important to note that the medium size may be too large to fit under the seat in front of you on a plane. The dimensions of the medium bag are 14.1" x 27.6" x 14.1", while the dimensions of the small bag are 12.8" x 20.9" x 12.8". Most airlines have strict guidelines for carry-on luggage, with size restrictions ranging from 18-22 inches in length, 14-16 inches in width, and 8-10 inches in depth. While the small size of the Base Camp Duffel may fit these dimensions, the medium size may be too large and may need to be checked in as luggage. It's always best to check with your airline's carry-on luggage policy before packing to ensure that your bag meets their size requirements.

I purchased size S for the purpose of carry on luggage for a 4 night trip. Here's my take. Pros: - Quality is made of durable material. Waterproof. Stitching and zips feel secure. I feel like this bag can last a life time. - Backpack design. As much as other people prefer the shoulder design, I find the backpack style easier on the back and shoulders. - Straps can be tightened, which makes the bag tad bit more compact - Price is relatively affordable compared to others - Can be flattened and stored Cons: - The backpack strap is wide, but not thick. There's not much padding on it either. However, you could purchase your own and replace it. - Lack of functionality. It is a duffel after all. Only one exterior pocket and one interior pocket. It's not a bag with multiple pockets to store your goods. If I needed to take something out, I would require a bit of effort unzipping the pockets. - It is a bit heavy (over 1kg) Overall, it's a great bag for what it is - a simple yet durable duffel. I used this as cheaper version carry on backpack as the alternatives I was eyeing were $300+ (Aer/Pakt/Peak). I would consider purchasing a more expensive backpack if you're planning on using it for camping/travelling/backpacking. In saying that, I wouldn't consider getting L/XL/XXL duffel version if you're planning on using it for that purpose. You're better off just getting an actual travel backpack, like the ones they sell at Kathmandu. This duffel is more suited for weekend/short trips . If you're unsure about which size to get for carry on, size S just fits carry on but on the larger side. I managed to fit under 7kg (carry on limit). Size medium or larger I would be VERY worried the airlines wouldn't accept it as carry on.

@RushfasterTV8 ай бұрын
Consider your typical usage and storage needs when choosing between the Medium and Large sizes of The North Face Base Camp Duffel. The Medium size is ideal for weekend trips or gym visits, while the Large size offers extra room for longer journeys or bulkier items. If the $10 price difference isn't an issue and you anticipate needing more space occasionally, opt for the Large size. However, if you prioritize compactness and shorter trips, the Medium size may be more suitable:)

Hi Ana, for those travelling overseas for a month or so, we'd usually recommend the Base Camp Duffel - Large (95L) since it has lots of room for longer journeys. However, it’s not very carry-on friendly. If Large is too big for you, we'd suggest getting the Medium (69L) instead. It's still spacious and easy to carry. It also fits in an overhead compartment so you won’t even need to check your luggage. Have fun on your trip! Cheers
