Mama this can happen with any child, it happened to my youngest when she was 3 and like Gunner, she was ok in the end. It's terrifying, but don't let anyone criticize you or try to make you feel bad. Gunner is ok. All it takes is one time. After that I was just like you, making her eat each bite and swallow before the next bite. You're a good mama who loves her children. And having Austin, an EMT is a blessing. He's a keeper that Austin! Love and prayers and big virtual hugs are being sent your way ❤

I’ve never seen your channel but happened to click on this video. I felt the need to comment, my then 20 month old daughter threw herself back in a tantrum off my shoulders while I was holding her and landed direct to top of her head onto concrete. I heard her head crack and immediately screamed in terror at the restroom thinking she died. To this day, I still have guilt over this but know it was freak accident. She is thank God, totally okay, fracture in two places but nothing more serious. I thank God every day she is still alive and well. I wanted to tell you things in life outside our control happen and the fear of losing a child is the worst feeling I’ve ever felt. Praise God your baby is okay and find comfort in knowing this isn’t on you and you did the absolute best caring for your baby through this situation! Much love ❤

My big scary was when my daughter was about the same age. She was sitting in a booster seat at a fast-food restaurant. She wiggled just a little bit and the darn thing slipped right out from under her butt to the left, her body fell to the right, and her head hit the cement floor.

So glad he is okay!! I know how guilty you may feel but this is so common! You are the best momma and did everything you could. I heard you can flip the child upside down (holding their feet) and gravity will make them spit it out when choking (up to 4-5 years old) All parents should look into learning infant cpr and choking protocols just in case ❤

Happened to me 52 years ago my youngest son ate the dried cereal off the floor I hadn’t picked up yet and he choked on a few pieces. I wasn’t a Christian at the time but cried out to God and he showed me what to do. He was blue and not breathing. I turned him over and gave him two good blows between his shoulder blades and out it came and he cried and so did I. Then I took a first aid course. About five years later I was saved All Glory to God!

I’m so glad Gunner is okay. I know how frightening it is. When my daughter was about the same age she choked on her food and it was terrifying. She couldn’t breathe. The look on her face was one of fear. Once my husband got the food dislodged all I could do was hold her tight and sob uncontrollably. That was a feeling that I wouldn’t want any parent to go through.

Wow so grateful your baby is ok. I'm 71 and I STILL remember one of my baby's was about 18 months old and had reflectixs on one of our bathroom windows and I had her sitting on the sink while I washed her hands and face and somehow she pinched off a tiny piece of the aluminum foil-like material and shoved it in her mouth and it got enlarge right at the end of her throat and kept passing out. I was terrified. Her daddy took her to the ER 2 minutes from our home and they found it and they hit her so hard in the back and that tiny piece flew out and she started screaming. I lost it. I cried so hard. I was begging God for this then toddler. She is almost 40 years old now and has 3 of her own. But I will never forget God's mercy and Grace on that day. I took the reflectixs off and threw it out. Babies like shiny things and those shiny things always go in the mouth. God is so good and I'm happy your baby is good! Thanks for sharing.

Love hearing the little ones singing about our Lord❤️ Grateful to God that Gunner is okay… when my youngest, my third, also, was about 18 months old. He choked on an ice cube that got lodged in his throat at the baseball fields on a hot 100+ degree day. I had let him drink out of my drink and he got one of the ice cubes. He turned blue and was frothing from the mouth. I did everything that I could to try to get him to choke it up. One of the umpires saw him and came, and did the Heimlich maneuver on him and he choked to the ice cube out. I was hysterical. It was some thing I have never gotten over. I never let my kids have anything like hard disk candies after that. I truly understand why you are crying! That fear is intense! So glad that he is OK. Hugs to you.❤️🙏🏼❤️

Joy you are a wonderful mother. With kids .. accidents happen. When my then 2.5yr old son and I were "playfighting" with my (then) 16yr old son we accidently broke his arm. Big brother was standing behind the sofa saying "no he's MY baby" as he tried to drag him over back of the sofa behind me. I would then say "no he's MY baby". Master 2.5yrs was having a great time laughing .. then we heard a "snap". My little boy screamed. We put him down on the sofa. We headed straight to ED. I burst into tears and told the Doctor "I think we broke his arm". We had broken his elbow amd I felt horrendous. The Doctor told me "accidents HAPPEN" and he would have been more concerned if we hadn't been upfront about the playfighting. 2 weeks in a backslap, 6 weeks in a cast from shoulder to fingers and he was algood. Once in a while the now 13yr old will tell me "hey remember when you and Bubba broke my arm?" 🤦🏻♀️

The device that Joy was talking about is called a Pigg-O-Stat. When I did my clinicals as an X-ray student about 18 years ago we used them on children but a few years later the hospital I worked at decided to stop using them because parents complained saying they thought it was cruel to immobilize a child in that manner. Obviously, parents don’t want their child crying, scared and looking as if they are being hurt but from an X-ray point of view the images came out perfect because there was no motion from the child moving. I’ve seen more repeats having parents holding their child during an X-ray exam than there was using the Pigg-O-Stat. And with repeats more radiation. Anyways, Joy I’m so happy Gunner is doing great now.
@WithLoveAshley10 күн бұрын
They also don’t realize that them crying can help get better X-rays, particularly of the lungs. My 2nd had his chest X-ray done in one at 2 mos old. No, it doesn’t make you happy to see them like that, but you are doing what is best for them by getting the most accurate and least invasive tests done to then receive the best care and treatments from that. Thanks for your contribution to the medical community! So many many people have helped keep me alive the past 10 years after multiple organ failure and post transplant. Blessings!
@WithLoveAshley10 күн бұрын
Also, I hope I’m not a bad person for laughing at the images of babies in them. They are just so adorable; not laughing as the ones that cry though. I wondered if they renamed it for the patients and parents if it would more accepted.
@heatherwatson102110 күн бұрын
@@WithLoveAshley yes definitely better images. Also, it was even better with the kids who were crying because we would time it when they took that deep breath in from crying. Taking a deep breath in expands the lungs which is what you want. So sorry for what you were or are going through. Hope you’re feeling better.
@heatherwatson102110 күн бұрын
@@WithLoveAshley I think the first time I seen pictures in school before clinical’s I thought it looked faked like they were dolls. lol I don’t think it would matter if they changed the name because I don’t remember telling the parents what it was called. @@heatherwatson1021 Thank you for the kind words of encouragement and concern. I received a kidney transplant and my other organs healed, thankfully! I still have so many health issues, but I’m so far from where I was. The things you’ve said make sense. It still traumatizes me so I’m extra careful with my kids.

Something you might consider is a "subscription" to helicopter EMS . We're a 45 minute drive from the nearest hospital, but the heli can be here in 12 minutes. Ours has more training than regular EMS and they also carry more drugs. We're seniors, but our plan costs us $365 for 5 years. It's a small price for peace of mind.

Glad he is ok. You are a great mom. I totally understand the worry after losing your baby girl in utero it just makes us parents worry more about the scary things that can happen to our children. We lost a little boy 32 yrs ago 42 minutes after birth. It was so hard to not worry about our other children.

Oh sweet girl, thankful to God for his protection. How scary but it happens to us all. When he was crying I was so thankful it’s when they go quiet I get worried. Have a good rest of your summer. Your littles looked to be having a blast on the swing.

So grateful Gunner is OK now and doing well. So sorry this happen. I was driving and had my grandson in his car seat. He was around Gunner's age. I gave him a marshmellow Easter egg and he got choked on it. I was so scared, like you, I had to stop the car, tend to him, fortunately he was OK. I ate one of them myself and it was so sweet, I could hardly eat it. We do things, thinking there won't be a problem with it, then choking happens. It makes you hyper alert going forward. Thank you for sharing. Dry dorritos can be dangerous if not chewed well, also. Pieces can stay stuck in the throat, at any age. Thank you for sharing. Love ya'll and love the videos. Your family can watch them as they grow up. ❤

Glad Gunners is ok,mama your ok. Things happen, please don't let negative comments bring you down. How awesome that Austin is an EMT, who better to assess the situation especially until you got to the hospital. Blessings

Choking is the most terrifying thing to witness. You will likely experience ptsd for quite some time. Glad he is ok. Nothing worse than seeing your child go limp and turn colors. Prayers for your heart Joy. I have experienced this and it continues to be a struggle, the anxiety that comes in the aftermath

Sending you hugs. I can’t imagine the terror you felt. I raised two boys. The youngest one always got into scrapes, goose eggs on his head. He was always scaring me. You have nothing to feel guilty about. There will be many more “episodes” as they continue to grow. God bless.

So thankful Gunner is okay 🙏 Incredibly frightening for all of you but you all kept your heads and reacted quickly and got him to hospital so the doctors could check him over. You did everything right Joy. I bet seeing him smile afterwards was the best feeling ever. You both are incredible parents, the way you both speak to your little ones is so loving and caring it makes my heart happy.
