If God is consciousness, serving God means contributing to the highest form of consciousness through being conscious of that. That's how I see our purpose of being. To elevate our own consciousness so that mankind may transcend its conscious level so God consciousness may grow as well.

I think this might be a false attribution to the church father. On first reading it seems mildly profound but I think the quote ignores Jesus’s teaching about the greatest commandment: “‘You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets.” Pleasing people RIGHTLY (helping, comforting, etc) may fall into loving your neighbor. At the same time, the quote does have some utility in that we don’t just want to be people pleasers to the detriment of the first commandment. Anyway, I searched and could not find any authoritative source on Chrysostam mentioning this quote. In fact one of the sources mentioned this quote and was pretty sure it was not Chrysostam.

PREACH. I was stuck and addicted to the self help cycle before Jesus saved me. I thought that I could be whatever I wanted-and “break free from being mediocre”. However, I couldn’t break free from my sins. Self-help doesn’t help if you yourself don’t have innate power and authority that Jesus has. Every knee shall bow and every tongue shall confess. Demons and principalities are under complete control of Jesus. Faith comes off as weakness, but in our weakness we have strength through Jesus our Lord, who with His spirit, will guide us to everlasting life-the real end goal.

Christianity is STILL the only worldview that is defendable, rationally tenable, answers the 4 questions of origin, MEANING, morality & destiny correspondingly and coherently, addresses love, evil, justice & forgiveness logically all while respecting one's sanctity of life. Timely & timeless at the same time, God's Word remains the best answer: it’s not about you. It’s not about me. It’s about Him. Finding Him first you will find your purpose.

Nicely written. Humble question here, so how does Buddhism not fulfill those standards? Not debating you, just trying to deeply understand how Christianity is superior to other paths. Thanks
@tookie3610 ай бұрын
Vedanta also answers these questions ❤
@ThePowergon10 ай бұрын
@@TheFiestyhick Well, two things that come to mind to me. The concept of sin. In an afterlife with no more pain, sadness, or suffering-sin would have to be removed. Which would make me think that we would only be able to enter Heaven, if we are cleansed of that sin. The Bible gives the history of sin, what it caused (separation from God, death) and how it was to be removed from the world, or, how we would be cleansed of it, in order to enter the heaven of the afterlife. And this leads me to the next point-salvation. Life is tragic and short-so a question heavy on the human mind is what happens after we die? The unknown should be worrysome to humans. What’s going to happen to us? the people we love? What do other religions say is the path to eternal life is? Christianity provides full disclosure of EXACTLY what we must do to receive the reward of eternal life. Imagine if you were Jesus being beaten, tortured, and nailed to the cross while being innocent. And your death was going to open the gates of heaven for humanity-and anyone who remembers and honors your death, and places it as the most important thing in the world, in their world-your father would reward them with eternal life for remembering your sacrifice. And they will be with you in your father’s house. And everyone will be a family. What’s the most important thing on earth? Family, right? It’s such a peaceful and cool feeling to know my Christian brothers and sisters and I will all be a big happy family one day in Heaven and our Father, in His infitine wisdom, will always watch over and protect us. For anyone who has been let down in life by anyone-know this. Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever. Hebrews 13:8 For anyone who has experienced suffering and tragedy in life, heaven will be free of any sadness and adversity. We are promised new bodies 2 Corinthians 5 NLT New Bodies 5 For we know that when this earthly tent we live in is taken down (that is, when we die and leave this earthly body), we will have a house in heaven, an eternal body made for us by God himself and not by human hands. 2 We grow weary in our present bodies, and we long to put on our heavenly bodies like new clothing. 3 For we will put on heavenly bodies; we will not be spirits without bodies. 4 While we live in these earthly bodies, we groan and sigh, but it’s not that we want to die and get rid of these bodies that clothe us. Rather, we want to put on our new bodies so that these dying bodies will be swallowed up by life. 5 God himself has prepared us for this, and as a guarantee he has given us his Holy Spirit. 6 So we are always confident, even though we know that as long as we live in these bodies we are not at home with the Lord. 7 For we live by believing and not by seeing. 8 Yes, we are fully confident, and we would rather be away from these earthly bodies, for then we will be at home with the Lord. 9 So whether we are here in this body or away from this body, our goal is to please him. 10 For we must all stand before Christ to be judged. We will each receive whatever we deserve for the good or evil we have done in this earthly body. We Are God’s Ambassadors 11 Because we understand our fearful responsibility to the Lord, we work hard to persuade others. God knows we are sincere, and I hope you know this, too. 12 Are we commending ourselves to you again? No, we are giving you a reason to be proud of us, so you can answer those who brag about having a spectacular ministry rather than having a sincere heart. 13 If it seems we are crazy, it is to bring glory to God. And if we are in our right minds, it is for your benefit. 14 Either way, Christ’s love controls us. Since we believe that Christ died for all, we also believe that we have all died to our old life. 15 He died for everyone so that those who receive his new life will no longer live for themselves. Instead, they will live for Christ, who died and was raised for them. 16 So we have stopped evaluating others from a human point of view. At one time we thought of Christ merely from a human point of view. How differently we know him now! 17 This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun! 18 And all of this is a gift from God, who brought us back to himself through Christ. And God has given us this task of reconciling people to him. 19 For God was in Christ, reconciling the world to himself, no longer counting people’s sins against them. And he gave us this wonderful message of reconciliation. 20 So we are Christ’s ambassadors; God is making his appeal through us. We speak for Christ when we plead, “Come back to God!” 21 For God made Christ, who never sinned, to be the offering for our sin, so that we could be made right with God through Christ.
@1ChristFollowingNerd10 ай бұрын
@@TheFiestyhick superior is the wrong way to think of it but even Buddhism makes exclusive claims that Christianity does not so we come to an uncomfortable truth: not all paths lead to God because not all belief systems are true. Amen. This reminds me of an old John MacArthur sermon called the will of God.( I know he's not the most popular here) He hits the nail on the head in it. Such a good practical sermon on the big question of what's the will of God for my life. Its actually called ( Gods will is not a secret) 🔥🔥🔥

Why are you living for the will of God? Do you not have trust in yourselves, do you do evil things then? I have some feeling, that you are a very devine smart being......😀
@neland651510 ай бұрын
@@borodel619 well because 2000 years ago the man Jesus Christ claimed to be sent from heaven to reconcile people back to God. The creator of all things. He taught about this God, that he has a will and how we can know him. This same man was crucified for these things and died a terrible death. Then 3 days later rose from the dead which in any sane person's mind would undoubtedly prove that what he was teaching was true. That is why we seek God's will and choose to live by it. You could do the same. Just believe in Jesus Christ and be saved.

I don't have a purpose anymore. I raised my kids as best I could. Gave them love, stability and freedom to be themselves. That was my original purpose. They are grown up now. I can relax a bit now.

Of course you have a purpose,we all do! It is delineated in the video.Also I have a daughter named Silvia.She turns 6 tomorrow.

No, no, no. Your identity (child of God) and purpose have not changed. Your assignment and the season has changed. You have raised your kids. Time for a new season.... Pray for a new assignment to fulfill Your purpose... which is to love and serve God and make Him known.

Exactly Ruslan. I did not realize this until I read through the Bible. The meaning of life is the number 1 commandment. We are to love God with all of our heart, mind and soul. People need to read the word of God.

Dang man! When i got to the end of this video. It got me all choked up and teary eyed. It's so simple and we all make it so complicated. I love you Lord! The kingdom of God is literally the opposite of how we think. God points this out many times in scripture. I love how this video unfolded such profound confusion and simplified it with the word of God.. Have mercy on us Lord. You sre the alpha and the Omega and we keep running into this truth over and over again. Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty.

Well done Ruslan the purpose of life is to live for God. To do things for God and not ourselves. To give up our selfish desires to help others in need and to love them. Most importantly to spread the message of Jesus christ and helping someone realize God is absolutely real is the best feeling.
