Not only that, but the timeframe we play in during BO6's campaign is the 80s and 90s, like think gulf war, think operation desert storm

Adler didn’t die as we see him in the Warzone story. BO6 takes place in the 1990s and we’ll possibly see some stuff in the 2000s and we don’t really know if we’ll see anything about 9/11.
