We need to get rid of the loopholes. It’s naive to think only the wealthy can pay for new social programs. Sweden or the Nordic countries tax all their citizens at higher rate and have low tax rates for corporations. There’s multiple reasons why the Nordic countries are good place to run a business
@DrArthurCGarp2 жыл бұрын
Rich people pay the most in taxes because they have most of the money but that isn't the same as paying your fair share. If Bill has 10k and Jeff has 100k of course Jeff is gonna pay more in taxes but to Jeff 10% leaves him with 90k left. To Bill 10% leaves him with 9k left. Jeff still has 10 times more money and can still invest, buy a home and a car. Bill just lost a month's rent.

In animals that herd together like lions, wolves, elephants… they generally all work together for the success of everyone. There are limits to what individuals can achieve alone and no limit to what individuals can achieve together. How a community should be structured should be based on its needs. That’s what Candice fails to understand, that humans instinct is to herd together with those who have the means to achieve their needs. Every person who can in a society should have their own job/expertise that allows the community to thrive. This concept is a bit harder and more impersonal in large cities and with the emergence of big box stores like Walmart and Amazon pricing out small businesses that tend to be community oriented.

@octoberboiy2 жыл бұрын
Here’s the thing, Candice always leaves out important details to make what she’s saying sound true. She left out all the tax write-offs the rich use to lower the amount they pay. That’s how Amazon got away with paying 0% taxes a few years ago.
@Pun1162 жыл бұрын
That's built into the American economy, for we give breaks to business expansion, such as reinvestment into itself, like what Amazon did. They will eventually have to pay the taxes on that expansion, so the government can take all the time in the world to wait for the bucks to roll in. There's debate over whether it's better to pay off the taxes now or later; actually, there's debate whether taxes are good at all, for it's never actually the business that pays for it. It's always passed down to the consumer where the tax is built into the products' price points.
@seandavidt35382 жыл бұрын
@@Pun116 Every highway you drive on was paid for with taxes and bonds (bonds simply being taxes dumped on future generations out of sheer laziness and lack of common sense). Every toilet you flush uses a sewage system paid for by taxes. Most police forces are subsidized largely (most exclusively) on taxes (and bond payments yet again). Also, fun fact, Amazon will never pay taxes for the years they are subsidized. When the subsidy ends Amazon will leave and relocate. In the meantime, Amazon's planes, trucks, cars used federally funded roads and airports for free.

It will probably never happen, usually is just about the lesser evil. Like liberals are less worse than republicans, etc.

The Bread and Roses party was the best I'd seen, but idealism never gets any traction in this country. Socialism bad, homeless and hunger good.

If the wealth were shared with the workers whose labor created said wealth in the first place, then more taxes would come from them.

Russell is one of the funniest, most thoughtful, caring, considerate, compassionate, and informed people. He genuinely cares about people, and wants to make the world a better place.

Sure, but he didn't use a socialist system to amass his 20 million in assets.. Did he?...So why is it no good for you and I?..

@@enntense Russell grew up and found early fame and wealth in England, where they have a more progressive tax structure, a publicly funded healthcare system, and overall has a much more robust system for looking after the welfare of its people. If you look at the countries that are rated as being the happiest, Finland, Iceland, Denmark, Sweden, the Netherlands… these countries all have more social welfare policies and a more progressive tax structure. They also have some of the highest GDP per capita. People who live in a country where there is greater equality of opportunity, a social safety net, a public healthcare system, and greater economic equality are happier, work harder, and make more money. That’s all that most people want.
